I ride left foot forward so when I go outside the wake on the right side I feel as though I cant really go outside because I can get the board in that direction and just kinda leaning.But when I have 1 hand on the rope I can but then I get messed up and almost fall. Keep the rope pulled in close to your leading hip all the time. As for your edges, keep the edge facing the boat well out of the water and this should help with stability a little and prevent you from catching your edge.
Remember that when you ride to keep weight on your back foot and that will keep your board under control.
