A couple options:
1. You can buy lead weights for SCUBA diving at any dive shop. Problem is that can be about $1 per pound depending on what you buy, so if you are looking at 150 lbs, you are looking at $150.
2. About 20 years ago my dad bought moulds for his dive weights, and stock lead to melt and pour into the moulds. I don't know if people still do that at all, but if they do, you might be able to find lead stock for cheaper.
3. You could buy weight plates from a sports store.
3. If you aren't necessarily attached to lead, you can use a big cooler. I have a 150 quart cooler that I use when there's only a few of us on the boat. Just fill the cooler with lake water. At 8lbs per gallon, a 150 quart cooler gives you about 300 lbs of weight. The nice thing about a cooler is that you can empty it and aren't stuck with 300lbs of weight you have to do something with. The downside is a 150 quart cooler is big and takes up boat space, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue since you are trying to compensate for people not on the boat.

DUDE!!! I'm always in your cove skating behind the jet ski! You're right beside the boat ramp, right? I live in the old white house. _________________ www.shadrack.com -This house is about to get freaky sleeping in! |

I read an article in WBM last year that they filled a rubbermaid tub with a few bags of quickcrete and made some ballast for their boat. The nice thing about the rubbermaid tubs is that they have handles and their only like 7 or 10 bucks. If the tub breaks or tears you can go get another one at Wallyworld. I know how you southerners love the walmart. when I was in NC a few years ago that was the happining place to hang out. _________________ Fat Girls make good ballast! |

WattsBarRiDr, Yeah I live not far from the Thief Neck cut through and Johnson's Bend. Right across the lake from where they are developing so heavily. I got a purple and gold Sea-Doo so give me a shout if you see me. _________________ www.shadrack.com -This house is about to get freaky sleeping in! |
