so if u saw my shattered foot post, thats what its from. I Wanna get the pics up but i was riding my friends full watson setup, booted ridiculously high off the 3rd roller of a triple up behind a SANTE 210 with 2700+ ballast. I was flying as high as the rope would let me go. I rotated a heel off 5 and upon the stupidly painfull landing, ripped my foot completely out of the binding sideways along with breaking the board and shattering my foot... just wanted to post a thread that i can put pics on cuz its just crazy

anybody else ripped a their pair Rolling Eyes ? or their friends new pair Confused

well maybe it was for the better. if the binding didnt break you'd probably be a lot more hurt than you actually are.

yeah Liquid force is going to have a lot of problems with the new pro model bindings.
my friend has gone through 3 pairs of watsons in a about 6 weeks. first one the baseplate ripped clean in half. i guess what you are describing?
i went and bought a pair of shanes yesterday, went riding today, same thing. the baseplate ripped/cracked right behind where the hardware screws into the binding. completely unrideable. took em back to the shop (GnP) today, should get a new pair in this week. at least i have ultras for back ups.

Note to folks who might attempt this again - Do not let friends ride in your Shane's or Watsons! These bindings break-in and fit to your foot. When someone else rides in them, they are likely to either stretch them out or not fit right and have problems.

My Watsons are very snug getting in and have excellent heel hold, but they release very cleanly on bad falls. I shoot right out of them when I need to. My crappy Hyperlite bindings never released as easily.

no pics of the 540 but my friends were stoked about how high i got and didnt even care about me breakin his bindings and snappin his board... so i guess it was up there haha... i have video of me trying to spin as fast as i can off a double up and i was high as hell and my friend ryan said to throw on another 10 feet... which scares me when i think about it... afraid i blew out my knee but i luckily didnt. ya about the bindings, its not the baseplate, that bent a little but like the material on the side. where the cloth meets the rubber, those seperated and then just completely ripped, callin ryan to get pics tomorrow

YEA IVE BEEN RIDING MY SHANES FOR 8 WEEKS NOW W/NO problems yet..maybe i dont go big enough but i do have some inverts and i land hard on my crows..maybe ill check them out off the board for signs of cracking...

i did get my first experience with banging my toe hard in the front to lift my big toe nail and leave a nasty bruise...

however its better then going through the front and hurting my ankle/foot/leg..

weird we were riding an 04 SAN 210 loaded to the gills, boat is apply named the Crippler in these parts and its the only wake ive ridden since ive bought my shanes to make my foot slam hard enough forward to get my toe Shocked Rolling Eyes

OK Bill you just confirmed the second of my gripes with closed toe boots.
Wink

Has anybody ever screwed up or broken a set of the Zeus beside the overlays ripping? Bad experiences with the new hinged ones breaking?

I ride with about six guys, four of them have the Zeus. Not one issue and they've had them for six months +. Seems like without having to pull and yank to get your boots on, the issues would about go away.
I saw a couple issues like that Shane deal last season.

gene i think you are missing the point ,i feel theres a chance that my whole foot and ankle could have slid through an open toe binding and did more damage..noone will really know but ill take a bruise under my toenail any day over the original posters comment on shattered foot and many stories on broken or tore up ankles or my foot sliding through front..my banged toe did not bother me riding nornally until it hit the front on a hard crash.so I stayed on the water and continued to ride he didnt Rolling Eyes .

so with that said it could have been worse and thats where im at with the closed toe..if this is the worst that i am going to get i can handle that over the latter...

get it fool Wink

youve been through 6 pair of bindings the last two years and have continue to have hurt ankles and feet etc...me one slightly bruised toe , Cool

if it continues to get worse or give me turf toe or something i will pick up a pair of CWB Factions next month but overall i have not found a more comfortable binding with lots of suppoort and easy on and off no lube design..i love them for that so there ! Shocked

You can't tell in the picture, but when the plate broke, the whole "boot" part of the overlay ripped away from the base of the binding. I'm lucky I didn't break my ankle or something like that.

im trying to get my video online now but its too big or something... dunno friends gonna do it. but at the end of my run, i hit the 3rd roller behind my boat and boot and rotate a heel 9... dunno how, but it looks tight. he saw that vid and said i was about 10 feet higher.... which is hard to imagine cuz it just seems like my body would have just been jello on impact... i guess my foots good enough haha...
