I need to have a sick wake on a Pro Star !

I have read others peoples topics about that issue but I need to know what is the ideal configuration for my 1996 Pro Star in order to create a huge huge wake!!!

Cost is not an issue!
... also is it possible to do wake surfing behind it?

thanx Laughing

Before I give you my advice, let me say this. I have never done any of this stuff before, so i might be wrong, and dont get pissed at me if i am. Thanks.

Ok, I suppose you could load it with Fat Sacs. Also, i think there is a system where you can replace the seat in the back of the boat with a ballast. Other than that, just put a lot of weight in the boat, and then fine tune it to what you want. Also, just make sure that you dont sink your boat with too much weight.

I have a '97 Prostar 205. Here's my thoughts...you need quite a bit of weight to weigh them down and get a really sick wake. I've only gone as far as 800 lbs in back and 550 up fron (I have a dd). With this configuration, it throws a nice wake and a pretty good size, but could definitely handle more weight. You may want to consider throwing a fat seat in the back and a full sac (450lbs) and lead (300-350lbs) in the bow.

Zibis-
You never said if what prostar you have, is it a 190 or 205? We have a 99 205....If I remember correctly, the hull is different...the 99 is the X-star hull in DD configuration. With that being said, the best luck we've had is 600 in the trunk, 2 full sacs on each side of the motor and 400 in sand bags under the bow cushions and 8 adults in the boat....that was a fun set Twisted Evil

but if cost isn't an issue, get an X-star and be done with it Wink

I run a fatseat in back and 300 lbs in front on an 88 ProStar 190. The wake is nice and we do surf behind it at 10.5 mph. Not as great for surfing as a V-Drive, but it does work.

I have a 1997 dd prostar 205. I believe from that year to 02 it is the same as the xstar. Anyway, I have two full size fat sacs, one on each side of the engine box, and another full size up front. Everyone loves the wake. If two guys sit in the back, it really ramps it up, but not really necessary. Here is a pic of the wake, the rider/girl in picture is 5' 9" tall.

I ride behind a wakesetter and granted it is a different boat and haul the process of weighting a boat is relativly the same. put 1 550- 600 coverless sack on each side of the engine, a 350 in the ski locker and a 550 - 600 on top of that. also in the back u can go to a sporting goods store and by 50 lbs plates and put 2 plates under each sack in the back 2350 lbs in the boat plus other people in the boat will give you and unreal wake it will coast about 400 bucks

Better yet. I use 50 lb. dumbells and they are just as good as using lead because they are easy to move. I have 4 of those to move around the boat. Make sure you put something under them or they may rust on the carpet.

Later.

andronikos916, Tell your buddy that Prostar will throw a decent wake....try a fatseat in back, a full sack in the front and go from there....

Those boats capacity is only 1200 pounds. The fatseat will easily weigh more than that.

Yea todd, I know the xstar is a vdrive, but same hull bottom. Consequently, if you weight it correctly, should have indentical wake. vdrive is engine placement, not hull.

Partyb that wake is really rampy, i'm trying to fix that problem with my boat. I like a vert wake and it's hard as hell if not impossible to get a steep wake on a MC ski boat. I need to sell mine i'm so sick of messing with sandbags and moving people around and my fat seat bursting cuz i put to much weight in it. Headache!!!!

In my buddies 99 205 DD we put a 500 in rear 500 on both sides of motor box and 500 in bow and the wake was absolutely perfect and LARGE!

I'm not a skier but I know I killed an engine with an overweighted boat.

krashr, you said rampy was a problem, but then said you wanted a vert wake. Aren't they the same thing? IMO, rampy is not a problem. A more vertical wake, is rampy i thought. Maybe it is some sort of skateboard thing which I am not down with.

antishoobies, you killed the engine probably because you had the wrong prop, not b/c you had too much weight. Well, too much weight for that prop you had.

Todd, I was under the imprression they were the same hulls, maybe I am wrong. either way, when weighted correctly my boat (1997 205 dd) has same wake as my friends 2000 x star vdrive. Some people like mine better. But don't tell him that!
