| WHich board is best for a beginer/intermediate rider who is not afraid to try to go big and wants to expand his skills. A LF Ps3, LF substance. or a CwB Absolute? Also which boot setup would be a good choice? Is the Ps3 to much board for a intermediate rider? THanks |

I have both the PS3 ('06 obviously lol) and the Substance ('05), the PS3 is REALLY agressive in the sense that it will throw you at the wake fast and hard and you will be in the air and not even notice it, I love it personally and once you learn to control it, it will be your best friend. The Substance on the other hand has tremendous pop and not as much speed, it turns well but not as well as the PS3 (which turns on a dime...which can be too much for beginners sometimes) and is a more stable board. I havent ridden the CWB so I cant comment on that, but I wouldnt recomend the PS3 for a beginner just because it can throw you around a lot, but if you can demo the boards it would make ur choice much easier (I understand if you can't like a lot of us). Just to recap, If you are looking for speed to throw you across the wake then the PS3 is for you but if you want pop and a more stable board then the Substance kicks ass..
Hope that helps!!

Ya the watson is like an upgraded Substance, it has a couple more features on the bottom of the board..my friend says it isnt much different than the substance, but it does grip and turn a bit better. And I forgot to mention the boots...I ride the '06 Transits (XL) right now, I have a size 12 foot and have a wide foot..and the boot is amazingly comfortable and easy to get in and out of..It isnt as flexable as other LF models. The Sphinx is a kick ass binding tho, It is easy to tweak out ur grabs yet it feels very firm. Other than the LF Alphas (good but a bit too low cut for me) I have demoed the Hyperlite Parks ('05) and the Hyperlite Byerlys ('05) and the CWB Torq ('06). The Parks is flashy and nice and snug..but for my wide foot it made my rides much shorter because it was too tight. The Byerlys are really cool, very flexable and snug, but a pain in the ass to put on. And lastly are the Torqs (which my brother has), Cool concept of the hinge but it just didnt feel as responsive as the other bindings (just my observation).
Good Luck and tell me which setup you get when you choose, any other questions u can PM me if you want

I've ridden the absolute; 05 tho. To me; it was slow, the pop is alrite... I dont know I can't really comment to much on it; it wasn't my 3DS. I rode it for 5 minutes and got my board strapped back on.
It's probably a nice board; i just wasn't comfortable. |

I like the substance the best out of all the choices. IMO, I would get the Shane. I started on the evo and noticed a huge difference with the substance as getting more pop. The Shane just takes it a step further. Those are the only boards I have riden, so can't comment about the rest. _________________ Life is too short to be a midget |
