I am looking at purchasing a 2000 SAN. Has there been any problems with this year model? Is there any reason that I should go with a newer year than a 2000, that is other than it being newer. How does the GT-40 perform when loaded with ballast and people. And finally What would you expect a 2000 with 50-150 hours and pretty well loaded to go for?

thanks

blake

Hey Blake,
I have a 1999 with the GT-40. No problems with mine. Knock on wood. I checked and that particular engine is practicly bulletproof. It is a workhorse. I took out 8 people and put the ballast in. HUGE WAKE!! I wish my camera was working. Plenty of power. My buddy is 6'6' 260 lbs and we were yanking him up. He is just learning to board so lots of u turns. Ran just fine. My engine has 295 hrs on it too. Just routine service.

I would think you could get one for about $30k maybe less. Only differences I saw with the newer ones is stereo placement (2000 has it on side by the throttle, rear deck lid on v-drive is one piece, different graphics, and I think that was it. They don't make the GT-40 anymore because they can't get the block anymore. One of the longest running engines CC has used through the years. That should tell you something. Happy hunting!!
