Have fun its illegal in most public lakes but I am pretty sure it is legal to night surf so I would try that first.

in the words of N.W.A- "F*ck da police." i think that quote holds true to this situation. but seriously, you could probably do it at dusk, i would just keep going, and if the cops get u just say its your first time doing it and that you wont do it again. Cool

mikeakatex5, I have found it truly depends on how well you know the area and such... Always have a camera man with a halfway decent looking camera. I told the lake fuzz we were shooting a film, and he was cool. Now, when they see us out at night, they usally pull us over to chat with them and what not about illegal fishing in the area. Dont catch an attitude with them, and find out if they have kids around your age that like to ride, or if they would like to give it a show one DAY when they are off. They are people like us, so they are really chill if you approach them right.

Also, make sure you have plenty of lights on board, and make sure you have people to spot downed riders too. Waterboy2971 plan will give you nothing but trouble. He means well, but dont take that attitude out there. They just want to keep you safe, and if they see that you have already taken appropriate measures out there, you will/should be more then fine. Have fun... My favorite time to ride these days is at 1am... I always have dibs to ride then!

ok ok yes my plan sucks. Embarassed i was actually assuming that plan only if you are cool with them, not being an ass. i do understand the cops, (lake/ocean fuzz also) and my friends dads r cops. but ya just be cool with them, dont give than any crap, and just dont do anything stupid. ive been pulled over by harbor patrol and coast guard for being out wicked late fishing and i just explained my situation and they were fine. think of the cops as more of your school teachers, if youre nice to them, theyre nice to you.

So is it always illegal or are there actually some lakes that allow it? It just seems cool to board under lights and I'm sure the water is almost always perfect at night.

honestly, on the lakes around my house, and the ocean, if it were night time you would prolly be able to do anything u want, its just a question of ramp access. the ramps close at like 8. the cops go home at 8 or 9 and u have the lake for the rest of the night! only problem i can think of is ppl on shore who r trying to sleep and they see a 22 foot mastercraft doing 25 with huge bright lites and music blaring, they might call the cops.. as for bugs, PMart, were you going 25-30 in your car or boat lol? the boat i dont think it would be that bad....

Sometimes it's a good idea to have whoever is riding to attach a glow stick or two to their vest or shorts. It never hurts and helps you and others see them.
