|
|
Kind of asked this in a earlier post. but when doing like a butterslide or frontslide or surface 180 , 360 etc. wont the fins affect it? i mean if you have a big triangle sticking down in the water wont it cause too much of resistance to where it kind of causes the board to come to an instant decrease in speed or fall down etc.. Or like if u get air and land at and horizontal angle?
would taking the fins off help or getting smaller ones or what ? |

fins defanitly affect surface sliding...it all depends on the fin setup on ur board...if u want to learn how to do surface slides it may be better to take ur fins off for those runs...by having smaller fins or taking them off it makes it easier to break the fins free to get into the boardslide postition, when u surface slide u need to lean away from the boat somewhat or u'll fall down so it's not like once u turn 90 degrees the fins will unexpectedly grab n stop dead n u'll go flying...and for the getting air n landing horizontal having smaller fins may halp u sqeak out the last little bit of spin but for the most part in wakeboarding u need to stomp the spin pretty solid all the way around or you'll lose balance or catch an edge or just have the board slide out from under you...personally with my HL byerly i don't even need fins because of the molded fins (but i prefer the locked in feeling of them)...the idea with molded fins or smaller fins or even angled fins is that once u are edging into the wake they will hold but when u are neutral or just flat based you can easily switch stances or screw around. _________________ Smile at the hotties on the boat...Huck ur new trick...Nail it and they'll think ur Wicked..and even if u bail they can soothe u afterwards:D...

i have 4 fins and i can do powerslides pretty easy and they dont seem to bite like it wants to flip me over headfirst...
ive seen a lot of videos and on the videos guys are sliding on pipes and stuff and ive never seen finned boards do that.. for obvious reasons.. fins scraping on pipes would be bad. |

| first time i took my fins off i decided never to go back, i snowboard so carving is no problem for me, cause in snowboarding you need to be on a edge more than you do in wakeboarding, in wakeboarding you can just kinda ride flat, especially with fins, i've taken mine off and i can slide around when i want to and have good edge control at the same time. Fins would be good to keep on if you're pretty new at it. |

Take out the fins! IMO, fins are just there to help teach new riders how to edge. Fins over 1.5" long are only for new riders in my opinion. I ride with just the outside fins and it is alot more forgiving on landings. _________________ www.Crawlinbc.com |

| Don't most board have molded fins anyway. If you take off the center fin, it shouldn't effect edging, I guess. |
