Okay, so - now that I can get out of the water every time, I seem to always end up heel side, outside of the wake. I decided that wasn't really the point of "wake" boarding, so set a goal for myself to get across the wake. I really ate it hard the last try and screwed up my back.

I'm thinking maybe I should set a lesser goal of getting very comfortable outside the wake, heel & toe sides and maybe figuring out how to ride switch there?

Is that a better plan / worse plan? I want to improve but don't want any serious injuries... Suggestions Question

NVChickadee, keep your weight a little bit over your toes and pretend like the handle is glued to your front hip. You feel like you look like an idiot but once your stable, gently shift your weight from heel edge to toe edge, and carve around a bit. Carve larger and larger "s" turns untill you feel confident enough to try crossing the wake, and rmember to keep the handle on your front hip.

when first going across the wake, dont go gung ho and try to get air or anything, but take your time and get used to getting up and over the hump.

ive never really had to try and teach anyone to carve since all of my friends who started after me snowboard too. i just tell em its just like a snowboard, and they carved back and forth across the wake just fine their first time up.

Ian_82, Well, that's what I thought because I snowboard - but it didn't quite work out that way Embarassed Embarassed I've never ended up at the chiropractor when I was snowboarding!

Ctipping, Yeah, everyone kept telling me to keep the handle down near my waist - I don't have much upper body strength, so it was hard...

Okay - good points, I'll keep them in mind next time - yeah, I think it will be a while before I get any air...
