i can kickflip alright. but i am working on double kickflips right now and i can get the spin and it lands just a little in front of me. but after i try some double, i can't do just a kickflip. the board still spins to much. so i was wondering you guys had any tips to slow down the flipping action.

also, how do you guys 50-50? do you ride right in front of the rail and then ollie on or do you come up to the side of it and then ollie on? make any sense? i have FS and BS boardslides pretty consistant and i want to learn some new grinds.

FS 50-50 will be the easiest to learn, approach at a 20 degree angle and pop up onto the rail, try and centre your weight. I find this approach easiest as you can look directly down at the rail your trying to grind.

As to the double kf, just try slowing your movements down, it seems obvious but if you can already kf then you will be able to do it.

CM's got the right idea on the 50-50, slight angle to the rail is easiest.

Double kicks, I'm assuming you're sliding your front foot back pretty far to bust 'em. Just slide your front foot a little more forward to comp for the single.

i tried moving my front foot forward and then i also moved it more towards the center so it wasn't sticking out from the side as much and that helped a lot. thanks.

i will have to work on the 50-50 once the rain stops.

Yes it does. If you have a square surface to grind your trucks can sit on it, but a round surface will force you to balance the board more. It's definitely good to learn on a round rail though, because it will make you that much better...

I learned how to 50-50 and 5-0 on a sqare shaped rail which made it way easier to balance. The first time I tried it on a round rail I bailed huge. I wasn't ready for the extra balance it takes. Either way, stay steady and centered. You'll do fine!

I'd suggest learning how to 50-50 a ledge first, so you get the feel of getting on top of an object and balancing over one side.

For rails, don't try and half-ass it and grind the last 2 feet- it looks kooky and you won't have time to pop off the end. With enough room for a healthy grind, ollie on frontside as parallel to the rail as you can. If you come up at a funny angle you'll have more of a chance of leaning too far over to one side. The straighter the better. For balancing, don't take your eyes off the rail. Focus on the end and don't look away until you are coming off the end. Keep a little more pressure on your back foot so you can push down on the tail on the way off. Keep your shoulders parallel with the rail, and pop off.
