| i would say it would be easier to land tricks and do sliders,,,,,,but you would not be able to carve or edge as well with out them....which would result in less air off the wake. |

they give you extra stability when edging and carving as kmccabe9500 said, surface tricks are easier as you don't have to break the fins free and risk catching them once the board is 90 degrees round. Some boards have molded outer fins which give you the stability without the drag. _________________ There's nothing like a good old faceplant to wake you up in the morning! |

It gives you a loose feeling of the board beneath you. I ride without fins and prefer it, gives you a less 'locked down' feeling when neutral. _________________

I wouldn't use them because i like the looser feel. When I went to the wakeboard camp they also didn't let us ride with fins so that we learned how to edge without using them. _________________ Hey we need some more weight on the boat...would you ladies like to join us on the boat? |

Also it depends if you have moulded-in outer fins, i have an my premier so i can get away with riding finless. On some LF boards i have seen you can remove any of the 6 fins for pure customisation. _________________

| go out on the boat and take some passes with fins and without, then decide which you like better. i liked riding without fins on my 03 byerly because the moldeds are pretty sizable so i ddint have to worry about always slipping. but now with my 05 substance i like the fins because without them i slip. riding w/o fins is more forgiving on spins, but you'll get frustrated slipping all day. |

I ride finless on my 04 prem, i dont really like the locked down feeling of having them in. They're only 0.7" a-wings but still feel too solid with the water. _________________

i prefer without but i started riding a trip..took out the center fins... then a subjekt... worked perfect as is. now a molded only setup do to snapping the subjekt in half but i love finless feel. neutral when flat for spinning and landing forgiveness then on edge it tracks like its on rails. its all opinion though. some people like solid less free feel. _________________ i drive a convertible. i have a boat. i wakeboard. word 2 yo mutha. dueces. |

Hey didn't wanna start a new thread with this one around...i just got an 06 byerly with the molded in fins and flow thru rails...shouldn't that have plenty of traction withough the .8 P-Wings in the middle...like when u guys talk about sliding u mean starting to plow when u start cutting into the wake right? i'm gonna test both ways out but on my old ancient byerly there were no molded fins, just 2 big plastic ones so i'm not sure what traction to expect from the 06.
any thoughts would be welcome...Thx. _________________ Smile at the hotties on the boat...Huck ur new trick...Nail it and they'll think ur Wicked..and even if u bail they can soothe u afterwards:D...

by sliding we just mean this... say ur out in the flats screwin around and you wanna go into a butterslide or surface spin if ur neutral on ur board like not edging you should be able to just spin it around on the surface which ever way you wanna. thats the sliding we're talking about. or like coming down on a landing and instead of having ur bigass center fin catching the water and making you pull a sweet face plant if ur just a bit off from perfection you just kinda slide sideways a little and get control of things. the majority of boards out now days are meant to be ridden finless in general. they are good however in choppy water or if ur just a control freak and want that psychotic gforce face stretching speed into ur raley cut or whatever then u put em on for the traction. as for ur board in specific i'd say go without them but keep them around just in case u feel the need. _________________ i drive a convertible. i have a boat. i wakeboard. word 2 yo mutha. dueces. |

thx man...i was thinkin the molded fins on the byerly are alot larger then the p-wing so i'll try without em n go from there. _________________ Smile at the hotties on the boat...Huck ur new trick...Nail it and they'll think ur Wicked..and even if u bail they can soothe u afterwards:D...

Pmart, its the same thing either way one isn't better than the other persay. the boards are made to work how they are. the only thing with the 3ds is you lose the option of removing your center fin and riding only molded fins. i prefer to have this option because i don't like riding center fins. but the 3ds is already set up that way so it'd work fine. its a total preferance thing. neither is better or worse than the other. _________________ i drive a convertible. i have a boat. i wakeboard. word 2 yo mutha. dueces. |

alright thanks man...so basically i need to decide on contin. or 3 stage bc the fins are goin to be .7 A wing instead of the ones given. thanks
also i know that 3 stage gives u more vertical pop but does the contin. also five u the pop 2. |
