One of the best business ideas I've seen in awhile is an Ice Cream store in a town called Wenatchee WA. The owner invented a liquid nitrogen machine that freezes the ingredients in front of you. You order your Ice Cream and they make it from scratch and freezes it in front of you. He uses all natural ingredients and for flavors like cookie dough, brownie, cake, etc. he has the towns best bakery supply those daily.
The place is busy non stop even in the winter. The kids love it because the nitrogen spills out of the mixing tub so it looks like a science experiment. Parents love it because it entertains the kids and the ice cream tastes just like homemade. Takes about as long to make it as it does for Marble Slab/The Creamery to mix theirs. _________________ I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream |

What's it called and is it a franchise? That sounds like it would work great in a touristy area. _________________ (insert funny chit here) |

oshensurfer,
It's called Cloud 9 and the guy is working on the Patents and wants to Franchise. Could be a great opportunity to get in at the beginning while it's still cheap. I'll pick up a business card this weekend. _________________ I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream |

lcap,
Thanks. If you get a chance see if he'd be interested in a franchise in Sac or Austin. I'd love to give that one a shot. I don't know what it is, but I've always been interested in owning a icecream shop and that one sounds sweet. _________________ (insert funny chit here) |

Theres an italian restaurant in Lodi and Stockton that just started to franchise. Its called "Davinci's". I think its $25,000 and 5% royalties. The kicker is that they make all thier pasta locally. You have a small shop and do some catering! Just the lodi store did something like 1 million in sales last year! |

lcap, sounds like a good idea. If nothing else, you don't have to store any perishable ingredients other than milk. _________________ 1989 Supra Comp TS6M, 06 GLI for haulin'.

FYI, a guy I know started a company called MolliCoolz, it's like Dippin Dots, but it doesn't have to be in nitrogen, it works well in a home freezer. They are in every 7-11 now, and look for them in Grocery Stores in mid 2007. They are pretty good. Right now he's working on distribution, because what is happening with alot of them is that they are thawing and re-freezing in globs, not beads.
Anyway, it's a really cool company, check them out. |
