Heyyy. This summer, I'm getting over my fear and working on spins, which i had started near the end of last season, but couldn't quite get it. I feel more comfortable spinning backside (blind) on a snowboard but can't really take it too huge. I'm just wondering what you need to do to keep on spinning because when I take it frontside, I get the 180 and can't do much more, but backside, I can get a whole 360.

How does spinning on the wakeboard compare to spinning on a snowboard (aside from the handle passes) and do you need to "lead" with a shoulder or anything? If someone could walk through the tecnique, that would be great Very Happy

You need to pull the handle to your hip or the small of your back and get the handle pass down.....if u can get decent air you should be able to get around.

QNev, yea in wakeboarding you spin by pulling the handle, in snowboarding you spin by throwing your arms around, very different. Also, in snowboarding if you spin off the jump youll be fine, in wakeboarding if you spin too early youll get thrown off axis and out of control.

I feel the same way, BS is easier on snow to me, but frontside is way easier on water.

Spinning on a snowboard and a Wakeboard are completely different IMO...

dont try and carve off the wake like in snowboarding, it wont work. do a lot of fs 180's, then just take it 1 step further. if you think about 180, but then just pull the handle in harder, it will come MUCH easier than if your thinking about a 360.

Hah thanks.. Yeah I learned about not spinning too early last summer Laughing (FS 180'd a d-up and landed ass down Razz )

So with the handle passes, you need to keep the handle as low as possible, while keeping it as close as possible?

Thanks

Pretty much. Holding the handle down there just helps keep you on axis while your getting up into the air off the wake. Another difference in the two would be that in snowboarding its a lot easier and more common to butter the end of the spin on the snow. Butter it on water and you have a good chance of the old edge catch to face plant. Very Happy

PMart, If im reading what you wrote right your asking to spin a frontside 180 do you pull the rope with your right hand towards your right lead hip? If so then no that will cause you to spin backside...you want to pull with your left hand to your back hip

PMart, If you're goofy and trying to spin frontside, release your lead hand and just rotate it (not too soon of the wake). For backside, pull your right hand into your right hip and make the pass if you don't want to land wrapped.

QNev, You don't really need to worry about pulling it into your right hip, just keep it out in front and let the board spin if it's just a frontside 180. And you've got the Backside down Very Happy I think Razz
