I usually ride on just the ballast system and get plenty of air to do pretty much any trick but was wondering where to weight the boat if I want the wake even bigger. Ive never weighted the boat so I dont know much. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Zach.

It helps a ton to weight the bow, it takes a little of the buck out and adds to the transition. The wake is still steep and clean but it gets bigger and smoother as you add weight. If you don't have the 3rd tank, I would add at least 500lbs to the bow. You can fit 2x250lb sacs in the rear compartments if you want to push it more. Its good to have the extra sacs for whenever you don't have extra bodies to weighr it down.

I would throw 500 on each side of the engine, a 500 on the floor, and a 1000 in the bow. Best looking SAN wake i'v ever seen.

Heh, you can say that again!

Just be careful with who you stick in the drivers seat if you are going to put a few thousand lbs of ballast and ESPECIALLY 1000lbs in the bow. It can be done, and you bet your a$$ it will be a nice wake Cool , but remember all it takes is the driver dozing off for a second and not noticing a small roller, next thing you know the bow dips under and you have some BIG trouble on your hands.

I have the two compartments in the back, beside the engine, and the middle locker in the floor board. I usually have 4 people in the boat when I am riding and 3 usually sit in the back. Would it make the wake bigger to weight the bow? I dont see how it would, but would help the boat plane out faster. Thanks, Zach.

Yes it will make it surprisingly bigger, heavier, harder, cleaner, easier to time, etc.... Weighting the bow will help the hull to displace a LOT more water b/c the hull will be a lot heavier and will sit lower (even at riding speeds like 22mph). As far as the shape, it will give it a cleaner transition, you will take some of the steepness off the wall and it will also fatten up the swells outside the wake, so wake jumps will be easier to time and a LOT easier to control. More weight = bigger wake, period. And you can get that super nice pump into and out of the swell, then BOOM, man what a great wake!!!!!!!!!!

What enhancer would you recomend for the bow? Lead, or enhancers or whatever else. I dont think that the fat buddies will fit up there?

Sacs will fit, leave the bow and center seating open and you can get a 500lb or 750lb sac up there, just let it mold to the contours of the bow as you fill it up. Lead weight would be nice if you can leave it in there (if you have a slip/lift), otherwise I would shop around for water sacs and a good pump. Its soo worth the 5 minutes it takes to fill them up, especially when you only have a couple folks on board and need the extra weight.

We got two 750lb sacs and a 1100gph pump from Get High Sports and they have been flawless for 2 seasons. They fit great across the bow and perpendicular to the rear seat, and they also fit great on each side of the engine on a 21ft inboard.

Jim, Do you have the wedge tanks? Are the 250 lb sacs a pain to fill? It seems it would be awkward to fill, burp and empty being back there on an angle. I already have a 500 lb sac I will probably use up front. I have the SAN with rear wedge tanks and a center tank. I am debating on getting the 250 fat buddies for both sides of the engine or maybe a 750 lb sac on the floor. Do 500 lb sacs fit in the engine compartments?

Good pumps will start the pull, when they are running low just lift the sacs out and dump them manually, then just throw them back in there and you are done. Fat Buddies fit great over the wedge tanks, you can even fit gear around them b/c those compartments are so huge. I haven't seen 500lbs back there but they would fit fine, just don't juice them too full.

But 250 is enough for the rear, after all the SAN is a hefty v-drive. I say sacrafice bow space for ballast and save the floor space for valuables like coolers and bags, thats the benefit of having a v-drive interior. That Get High Sports sac is the best deal you can find, its huge!!!

How else do people weight their SAN? What about other 21+ft v-drives??

we have 240 lbs of sand bags on EACH wedge tank (there cheap to buy like $8 at home depot). then 2 100lbs tractor weights rhino lined under very front seat and a 350lbs sac in the bow. Plus 820lbs internal ballast and 4 adults and the wake is sweet, nice transition with a stiff wake.

We put 600 in the nose...600 in the ski locker...540 lounge chair on top of that...350 by the back seat on the floor..and the stock ballast in the boat. We have to pump the speed to 23.5 but it kicks. It sinks the whole boat and just pumps out a massive wake that gives you a lofty pop with a nice transition. We used to put 350 on each side of the engine but I feel that it puts lots of strain on the boat and sucks up the gas. It also makes the wake really steep and I can get higher without it. When it gets so steep you go up but just hang. I like gettin high and going into the flats so I have more time.
