|
|
i have been trying to try the tantrum for a while and i have read up/ listened to any advice on the tantrum, but no matter how much stuff i study about it, when i get behind the boat in postion to throw the tantrum, i get scared or something.. So ive been thinking. If i pull a tube, stand on the tube without my wakeboard (i have my wake rope with me and it is the same length as the tube rope) and do a tantrum motion into the water (backflip off the tube with the wake rope) do you think it will be helpfull?

| Don't be scared, the worst i've done is knock the wind out of me, and that just takes a second to get back. BE STRONG! and if you want to work on rotation, do backflips off your boat/tramp. g'luck! |

wknebraskaweber, that will just end up getting you hurt. Please film it!
On your tantrum, take and aggressive cut in, and when you think your gonna have to "trip", wait a second. Ride all the way up the wake and then shift the board parallel to the wake. Kick your head back and open your chest to the sky. then pull you knees up to your chest and spot your landing. |

It would be better to just try it with a wakeskate. _________________ PS- this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

what you should do is hold a wakeskate and try to land it. That would be pretty cool.
I think it would help you more to get comfortable with a backflip on a trampoline or a diving board. Being comfortable upside down is a big part of it. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Yeah dude, just gotta go balls out and throw it. The first time i ever tried one, i had 3 energy drinks immediately before getting on the boat. Also, there were 4 really, REALLY hot chicks on there w/ a bunch of my friends. So they told me to throw a backflip (tantrum). I can do backflips on the tramp no problem, and i can even do them on the ground, so i figured it wouldn't be that hard. Also, i wanted to impress the ladies on there. So, i just cut in and did my best attempt at a tantrum.............................let's just say i ate crap. But still, after that, it wasn't so bad, and now i can land em all the time, no prob. _________________ "What? When did the ballast break? Where's some fat chicks when you need them?" |

2 problems I see with trying it off of a tube:
1. when throwing your body up into the air, youre more than likely going to slide the tube out over the water, meaning that when you push your legs out, the tube wont have any traction on the water.
2. When considering possibility number 1, there is no way to get enough height or thrust to finish the rotation. So unless youre Bruce Lee, or maybe even a close friend of the family, youre going to end up on your head.
Good luck with that!!! _________________ "I just want something more than to come home in my cool looking SUV, sit in my king sized leather recliner and watch reality television on my widescreen plasma TV...How easy it is to care for someone when you dont have anything else..." |

wknebraskaweber, it looks like your risking alot more injury by trying to bring a tube into the ordeal. _________________ aye |

Snowboarding 5 years.. wakeboarding 2 years.. 5 times broke wrists, Collerbone 2 times, 3 concushions and a continusly broken tailbone.... Still would perfer to take a nasty crash on snow then water anyday.. I dono about you guys but that sting is the only pain that really gets to me haha. But id rather throw it with a board on then off a tube? |

| Bernardshow, i disagree, but i suppose it depends on the type of fall. Both sports have their moments and ways you can easily get hurt pretty badly. But the jumps are getting so big in snowboarding that the consequences of falling are starting to become almost too gnarly. |

| go to the local pool & do back flips off of the diving board...that'll get you used to making the rotation. Moving (i.e. being on the tube) wont be any different than this, except for the handle, & if you want that feeling then use a trampoline. Otherwise, i think everyone else has summed up what ya need to do when ya get on the board... |

Old name got deleted...
I always thought of trying this...
Go up to the wake and once your in the air, just let go of the rope, and concentrate on making your board hit before your face.
Your hands are also great for slowing your impact into the water.
Also, Just think about how proud you'll be once the first time is over! _________________ Rukus |

Cajun, that is the WORST idea I have ever heard! Any invert is easier to land with the rope in your hand!
wknebraskaweber, that is the BEST idea I have ever heard!! There is no merrit what so ever from a wakeboarding perspective but damn would it be funny!
This thread has really had me laughing!! It really needs some video! |

| Ok. I'm gonna throw a little physics at ya. When you're standing on the tube... you're body is going as fast as the boat is pulling you. Unless the rope and handle you are holding are tight (as in you might have to lean back to get tension) the second your body jumps off the tube you go from 21mph (or however fast the boat is going) to zero! the rope and handle on the other hand is still traveling that fast so if there is slack in it..... well you can imagine your body going zero to 21mph with a nice snap on your arm! OUCH!!! don't do that. |

haha, i was just gonna say that.
"object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force."
if the boat was going 25mph, and you jumped off the side, your going to land in the water alongside the boat. because even though you jump off, your body is going the same speed. until you hit the water. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/muxpux

I see eardrum rupture in your future if you try it off a tube.
Feet enter water, body sideways, ear and side of face hit water at 21. . ouch. _________________ (insert funny chit here) |
