Ive been browsing around looking for my first real wakesurfer. Ive been using an old kneeboard for 2 years and I think its time to move up. My skill level I would say is intermediate, I freeride on a kneeboard which is kinda tough, carve, floater, etc. I want the following characteristics with the highest in importance first and keep it under 300$.

1.) Easy to freeride/ Able to go wayyy back and still get back into the pocket
2.) Carves aggressively and is good for floaters
3.) Able to pop airs on it
4.) Would be cool if it could ride backwards for short times if I wanna do little 180s

So basically like 80% surf stlye but just a little bit of skim influence for an occasional simpler trick. Thanks in advance.

The hyperlite CoEX is a small fast board. it can also be ridden backwards

Hey LFAdam, you mean like this, this, this and this? Smile No offense to jmb, but the major players in the manufacturing game aren't giving us killer boards, their money is in wakeboards. Check out the smaller manufacturers like the Walker Project, Inland Surfer, Calibrated, Xtreme Board Company...much better offerings than HLLFCWB stuff. These pictures are all on thewalkerproject.com team model in 4'5".

Thanks for the replies. surfdad, I checked out the walker project site just now and they look like sweeet boards. I would definetely buy one....if I had 400 dollars. Are any of the other brands you listed under 300$ or do you know where to buy one used? I agree that a real surf company would make a better product but I might end up going with a broadcast or something just because of price. (270 vs 400)

LOL, no I don't but from my experience, it's not 270 vs 400 it's 270 + 400 vs the 400 when you wind you buying the better board anyway AFTER dropping the initial money on a molded board. Smile You might check into Calibrated's or Walzer's new offerings. They aren't quite ready for retail, but should be soon. Over at www.wakesurf.net Sean Ward has some prototypes of the Walzer's in the for sale forum...a better option for stepping up your riding than a broadcast. I think he was asking around 270...worth a look see.
