|
|
In leiu of our recent boating experience, my dad informs me that he is "potentially back in the market for another boat". My pops and I both agree that the one we have is a b!tch to drive (sticky throttle, almost impossible to maneuver in tight spaces, and just overall too big), so were looking into getting either a V or D-drive.
At West Marine, where I work, We're selling a boat that used to belong to the district manager. Its called an Eagle Air, and its a wakeboarding boat by Elan. Elan is like what Moomba is to Supra, they are a part of American Skier.
Anyways, I'm just wondering if anyone has had experience with this boat, or knows anything about the quality, engine performance, overall awesomeness of it. I've gotten to take the grand tour one day when I was working and it looks pretty good, but Ive never heard anything about it so I dont know.
Its priced at 45K, but with my associate discount I can buy it for 34. One of my friends is selling his Nautique for around 35-37k so we're probably gonna check on that fist. Anyways, thanks to anyone who pays attention and knows anything about it. Peace... _________________ "I just want something more than to come home in my cool looking SUV, sit in my king sized leather recliner and watch reality television on my widescreen plasma TV...How easy it is to care for someone when you dont have anything else..." |

| I've never heard of Elan if you've got the money to spend I would definitely go with another brand your friend's Nautique doesn't sound like a bad idea either. |

It's a sick looking boat, I like it. Plus the teak platform that is also ballast is an awesome idea. It was the first time I'd seen anything like it before (as far as the rear seating goes). The tower is solid too. It's a great looking boat, I should come by and take some pictures of it and post em today Matt. Who has the Nautique and what kind is it Matt? _________________ '05 Supra Launch 24SSV |

| While I wouldn't doubt Elans are decent boats, for that price I would definitely pass it up. For 45k you could get a sweet Malibu, Nautique or Mastercraft and the guarantee that you're getting a quality boat. Just my opinion. |

| For 35k or so, you can get some sweet boats. I dont know anything about Elans, but as people have said, you may want to get a boat that you know is quality. You can get 00' X-stars for like 25-30k for example. Maybe a used vRide for 35? 00-01' and VLX for 30k tops, etc. |

On a side note, I can't wait to graduate from college and get a good job so I can buy a new boat. I graduate this December, may have a job lined up, and hope to have a new boat by next summer.
Ok, didn't mean to thread hijack Matt, I'm just aggrivated with having to bum rides and rely on my unreliable boat. _________________ '05 Supra Launch 24SSV |

LoudonTN, No dude, I hear ya. Im afraid that I too will be a boat bum this season. I hate that feeling. Id much rather spread the stoke than take it, know what I mean? _________________ "I just want something more than to come home in my cool looking SUV, sit in my king sized leather recliner and watch reality television on my widescreen plasma TV...How easy it is to care for someone when you dont have anything else..." |
