My buddy just picked up a pair of CWB Torq bindings yesterday and told me that I am going to want to buy them after we ride this weekend. I wanted to find out what you all think about them.

RufioSwashbuckle, I'd point out that the FAST system on your Transits is gimmicky and unnecessary, but hey, it is easy to use and speeds things up, right?
The Hinge is in the same boat: not totally necessary, but it sure as hell works, and it is certainly easy to use and certainly speeds things up....

I dunno man, I guess Im just not feeling it. It seems like theres alot of stuff that could go wrong with them like coming undone while you ride or breaking or whatever. Alot of people had problems with the BOA Speed Dial, and Hinge Tech is kind of the same thing as far as lacing systems are concerned. Only time will tell I suppose...

RufioSwashbuckle, I never liked the BOA, especially after using it for a while.
Cables too thin, gears too long to spin up - moving parts BAD!
Now the hinge - cable is plenty thick, uses a cam system (up and over = locked), and is completely out of the way when in use. Also, you still have traditional laces, all it does is give the ability to open the entry point wide - real wide.
My ski boots use something that is a similar idea. It is called the "Rapid Access Cuff" and it works awesome. Tecnica has been using it for years now. Also, think of Flow bindings - which work quite well. My point is? That these systems work very well for many people, while some just won't dig em - just like anything else. I'd say at least check them out, and even ride them if possible.

lukep90, no it will not come undone if you fall. The cable has a bit of adjustment to it, so if it did happen to stretch you could bring it in ever so slightly. It will fit on any board.

chavez,
thats the first thing i thought when i saw them. Flow bindings. my buddy (johny_WA) has them on his snowboard and loves em from what hes told me.
my first snowboard had switch step in bindings. everyone told me they were crap, and i had them anyways. lasted me about 3 or so seasons before they just got bad. i probably could have kept em a bit longer if i replaced some bolts and such, but strap ins are much more secure. which leads me to this. whens a "step-in" for wakeboards gonna happen? like you wear a boot and just have to click onto the board? prbably wont happen given the unpopularity of step ins on snowboards? or just an overall bad idea? like metal parts ont he boot scratching or tearing boat surfaces and such?

Ian_82, Thats probably never gonna happen. Who would wanna wear their boots around like that and mess up the boats interior? Plus, you're still going to have to take the time to put them on anyways...

Enzo -
The Torq is lycra/nylon lined
The Zeus has a lycra/nylon tongue and EVA on the heel.
Ian - you answered your own question!
