Has anyone attempted to make their own fiberglass speakerboxes for their tower. I was thinking of trying to make one for either 4 6.5's or 4 6x9's. Anything will help.
Be prepared for a lot of work. This guy has an excellent write up. He looks like he knows what he is doing and has more than enough tools and space and it still took him 100-125 hours to do. That was enough to make me want to just buy one.
He didn't say how much resin he used but it sounded like a lot. At $30+ a gallon its going to add up.
Go to www.diytower.com they have a good write up of how to build a good box for 6x9 im about to set out on building a similar one for 4 6.5 inch speakers . _________________ Words that do not match deeds are unimportant. - Ernesto Che Guevara
mikeakatex5, I made one last year. I've never done it before and it wasn't hard... just took a while. I didn't want to buy one because I wanted to make it custom to my specifications. It came out OK but I will probably make another one this winter because I know I can make the next one that much better. I'm also going to integrate lights and a pop-up stern light.
