so i was recently out riding (yesterday). i was just working on good form, progressive edge, standing tall, good pop, etc. and i caught a weird edge on the landing or something and i ended up coming out of my bindings. so when i came back up for air i started looking for my board and when i turned around it was skidding across the water and hit me in the face haha. what are the odds??? _________________ Too fast to live, too young to die. |

I have had that happen before...now every time i come completely out of my bindings I cover my head. Ive kept the board from hitting me again a few times. _________________ Bondo saved my wakeboard's life!

| I caught a edge on a 3 one time and came out of my bindings then came up and got hit in the face and cracked a cheek bone. I cover my head now if i pop out or on a wakeskate. |

| Ever since my waterskiing days (shudder....) it just became reflex after I hit the water to cover my head. I've saved myself quite a few knocks. |

nfn, same here, I stay under the water in a "duck and cover" position for a few seconds until the smoke clears. This happens more often when I dismount on a wakeskate though, I love doing cannon balls w2w. _________________ |

Have to admit that it has happened to me too. I'm just happy that my foot is not still in the binding when it hits me in the head. _________________ I didn't do it, nobody saw me, can't prove anything! |

| Happened to me too but it definitely wasn't as funny at the time. It hit me right above my upper lip and literally left me with a second mouth. My Dad, a retired dentist, stitched me up because no plastic surgeons were available. He did a great job and it hardly shows now. Needless to say my arms cover my face the second I come out. |

| That is never a good thing.... i got hit right between the eyes when the board came off during a failed raley attempt and it left a nice little scar on the top of my nose. Now it's all about the face cover whenever i feel the board come off. |

how does this happen? i mean how does the board get behind so far behind you that it takes enough time for you to surface to catch up and still have enough energy to hit with enough force to cause pain? whenever i get ejected from boots, the board is always floating still in the water, sometimes ahead of me, behind me, or to the side, that really depends on the fall. I have never seen the board still moving when the rider resurfaces.

Yeah, I cover my head every time I comeout of the water too.
Hit my head with my board twice a couple seasons ago and got over ten stitches each time.
Wierd thing is I didn't even pop out of my board...
I wore a helmet a few times after that but it was a hassle to ride with a helmet on.
Now my first reaction whenever I crash is to cover my head. |
