Does anyone ahave any information about ear drum injuries?

I was wakeskating saturday and I fell and just for fun I held on to the rop to let the boat pull me. I came out of the water and I couldn't hear. I tried to relieve the pressure, but it started hurting later on that day. I took some advil and the pain went away.

Now when I swallow or eat I hear crakeling in my ears. I have a mild headache, and my balance is off a bit today. I am not sure if it is sinuses or my ears.

Anyone have any info on this.

I scheduled an appointment with the doc today, but wanted to know if there was anything I needed to know beofre I head in there.

you might have perforated it, or ruptured it...

or it could just be a bunch of water stuck in there behind the wax...

but, since you say that your balance is off, I'd place money on that you ruptured your eardrum.

If your balance is off then you can bet it's not your sinuses, that's an inner ear problem. If you perforated it you woulda felt fluid leak out, but if it happened in the water then there's a good chance you wouldn't have noticed (although it's unusual that it didn't hurt right away 'cuz I hear that stings like a mother).

You'll probably be outta the water for a bit, that's probably the only thing I can brace you for.

i know you all hate me but i actually had the same thing and it was a perforated ear drum, they put a patch on it and you can hear again right away, then you go back and they take it off, no biggie

Captian Tripps, I agree with the other guys that you probably ruptured your eardrum, however it is something you should have checked out. My boyfriend just ruptured his for the 3rd time last weekend, and it's important to stay out of the water or get special swimmers wax to put in them if you have to get wet. Also, you may need antibiotic ear drops to put in to avoid infection, seeing a doctor could speed up recovery time. Get better Very Happy
