Just took the tape and plastic off last night for the new paint job. Now I just need a name for it. Its a 1969 Sea Ray 16' closed bow, blue and white paint.

A little history in case it helps: I bought it two years ago for $350. It was olive green with "Pure Honey" in huge letters on the side. Someone used a sharpie marker on one side to make it "Pure Horney" The head was off the engine and the guy said it has water in the oil. He showed me the blown head gasket and said its probably just this, but ya never know. I bought it anyway, and it kept me busy and entertained as I worked to get it just running, forget appearances. After fighting with the motor all summer, I finally came to the conclusion that the block was cracked. That winter I bought a motor from a junkyard for $350. No compression, so I rebuilt the top end and it runs good. Had some minor problems throughout last season, and its been towed back to the ramp more often than its made it back under its own power. But its mechanically fine now and just tonight I pulled the tape and tarps off to finish the new paint job. All thats left is to get it back on the trailer and bolt the deck hardware back on. So its almost ready to go for this season. Oh and almost forgot, for the first year of ownership I towed it with a 1998 Mustang with the V6 and an auto.

I'm open to any suggestions. So far the best I got are:
Goin Down (two meanings, sinking and something else)
Divine 69
My Dixie Wrecked (funny, but don't think I want it painted on the back of my boat)

Can't wait to get this thing in the water. I've been working on it for 2 years, I'd like to get some real use out of it for once. Hopefully I'll learn how to wakeboard this summer too.

Thats a pretty pimped out boat, its tight. I love the old school stylin! I like divine 69. With an old boat like that made in 69 you gotta throw something sexual in there!!! That is such a "porn star" boat, now all you need is some side burns and nappy hair!!!!!

what about, "why the f is this boat on a wakeboarding site"

not hating on a boat, any boat is better than no boat but this is kind of out of place, don't you think.

I posted it here because I've been readin the boards for a little while now and will be wakeboarding behind the boat this summer. I only know of one other boat website and the people there are mostly older and uncreative, so I figured I'd get some better ideas here. Didn't mean to piss anyone off by posting a non-inboard boat. I figured it'd be ok, I see some others have them, and some even use rowboats with outboards.

As for naming a lake boat, I don't see why not. Some people do. I wasn't really planning on it, but everyone I talk to says it needs a name.

Thanks for the replies and for the compliments.

Stang, Don't pay attention to those guys. Half of them are being pulled behind their Daddys' boats anyway. Keep up the good work! We want to see some pictures of "Pure Honey" when she's in the water. Hey "Phoenix" is pretty good....

Its cool, just wanted to explain myself.

Phoenix is a good one. I was even thinking about it myself before I saw the post. One of the symbols of my fraternity is the Phoenix, and when I saw the post about "reincarnation" I immediately thought of that.

I'm hoping to make it to the lake this Sunday. Not all the deck hardware will be installed yet, but I just want to get on the lake. Hopefully I'll remember the camera. Eitherway, it will be out of the paint booth and on the trailer by Sunday, so I'll put a better pic up then. And if I don't make it to the lake, I should at least be able to get most of the hardware reinstalled.

I'm thinking the next project for this winter will be building a tower or some sort of elevated tow point. I figured I sould wait and make sure I learn how to wakeboard this summer first though. Plus who wants to sit in the garage and weld when they can be on the lake, especially with Michigan's short boating season.

I'm sure you're higher than me, our pledge ed F-ed up big time. I'm a senior and my class still doesn't have pins or anything. Or the class under us, or the NIMs. Nationals thinks we have all of 3 members right now and they were about to recolonize us. Supposedly we have it straightend out now, so I should get everything soon.

Great to see another boat brought back from the dead. Check mine out in the thread titled "Post you P.O.S. boat pix!"
I didn't have to do quite so much work on mine, but it's definately a work in progress.

let's see, he has a boat and plans to wakeboard behind it, he posted in the boat forum. What's the problem eeven73, he has every right to be here. You gotta start somewhere and to do a project like that by yourself is very respectable. nice work Very Happy
I have heard that you don't name a boat under 25 feet, this has been discussed on this forum before. I personally would not name my boat, My brother was the previous owner and they gave it a name so technically it has a name... Neutral

It looks like you're doing a good job on that boat. If you must name it why not stick with Pure Honey? Otherwise I like Goin Down. And why not put a tower on it?

Ok I got some more pics now that its back on the trailer. Its nice to have room in the garage again. Thanks again for all the compliments. I've been getting all sorts of compliments lately and its kinda weird. I'm used to getting stares of disgust and "what is THAT doing on our lake" looks. One of my fraternity brothers even thought I sold the boat and bought a new one. I hope to put the windshiled back on, but right now I can't find it. Might have to get a new one, in which case it'll be awhile.

eeven73- its cool, dont' worry bout it.

Ok heres the pics. Some of the hardware is reinstalled but not all of it. I fired it up this weekend and it ran good, but has a few problems so I worked on those most of the day instead of deck hardware.

I don't know that Pure Honey was ever the name of the boat. I recently found out that "Pure Honey" is actually a brand name of an old honey company. It may have just been advertising, especially given how big it was and that it was painted on the sides and not the back.

Plus with the reincarnation of a restoration I've done, might as well give it a new name too.

Hey, Great job....had a jet boat rebuild that I recently sold, and miss...but had to move up.
As for the naming thing, i've been told that you are supposed to piss( u know pee pee) on the deck of the boat , then you can rename it. I guess its like marking territory! Laughing So whip it out and rename her.
