Move your bindings out wider, it increases your center of gravity. Also don't bend at the waste bend with your knees. Hope this helps a little.

When I first started I had to think about it like this, when I was getting pulled up, instead of thinking about the boat pulling me out of the water, I thought about it as if I was pulling myself out of the water by pulling on the rope. And when you get up you dont really lean forwards or backwards, like SouthWaker said, bending at your knees will help keep you balanced until you get the hang of it. It is just like anything else, it takes time for it to become natural to you!
