wakeboardertj, It was basically just luck. They were in my kitchen and had spotlights right over the top of them. The rest of the lights in the kitchen were off.

Few of mine:

(I really wish I still had access to a darkroom, or had some of my photography class photos around/scanned in. But I have no idea where my portfolio went.)

I'm saving up for a 20D right now, can't wait till the end of summer when I can afford it. Laughing

Laugh Damon, nice pano, hippies crack me up.

Have you tried a close up pano such as an indoor one? Those are usually the ones I have trouble with. I photograph for the family's cabinet company, and many times I take small panos in rooms like kitchens. I dont have an expensive pano bracket so I built one, but I still never get the camera perfect.

The can usually be fixed, but If I'm doing a 180-360 degree pano it's a PIA and waste of time.

Here's an example of one done in photomerge(cropped):

Very cool Darin. Reminds me of that scene from the old Tom Cruise movie 'Legend'.....when they see the Unicorn.

Those are tough when you have so many strong horizontal and vertical lines in the same photo.

I have found that selecting the "save as Layers" option helps with those pictures.

Laugh Damon, I've had it close to the nodal, but not perfect since it was homemade and out of wood. Still get the offset panos close up. Confused

lol I was actually referring to justsomeguy's but clicked wrong name. Embarassed

Beutiful shot though! Smile

Haha, thanks, I figured you were refering to his anyway, just making sure.

As far as close up pano's, I don't see why you would need to worry about it. Why not just get a nice wide angle? What lens are you using right now for them?

DAMN, you definately got those pano's down. What setting are you using? I've always used A-DEP, thinking that it will keep the exposure the same and keep the depth of field similar, so far I haven't had very much luck.

That looks straight out of Ireland, definately print worthy. If I can add some criticism though, I might cut out those houses on the right.

Meter off the frame that to your eye is closest to the average, lock the exposure and focus and then shoot your series.

Cutting them out would also take out one of the the dramatic elements (snow on the mountain), IMO.

I think that adding a jarring element such as a neighborhood to the edge of a pure landscape shot can be interesting.

That makes sense, it looks to me like you started with the houses?

I suppose it depends on what your going for, I look at a picture like that and imagine rolling knolls out in some farmland... then I see a housing development.

I metered off the second frame from the left. That's why the sides of the light colored houses are blown out.

justsomeguy, absolutely beautiful landscape. Only thing I'd want to take out myself would be the towers. The town adds some to the picture. Smile

Because to get a 180-360 degree shot that would be impossable. I use a 28mm right now, and anything less than that makes stitching harder.

Maybe I'll have to get PTGui again for now and just do it manually. It works great for even close up shots as you can see:

About 160 degree shot here, 12 pictures I think.

The quality sucks on this -- it's more about the composition -- my dad and my sisters chocolate lab fishing in the keys -- both have passed on since this photo...

Tmac1,
I really dig the one of your dad. Sometimes the casual ones tell the story better than a composed photo.

Sweet photo.

Maestro, hahah nice.

Tmac1, That last one is good, you should take it into a touchup artist, have it worked on and blown up. They could easily get rid of that line, and fix the horizon. Do you happen to have the negitive?

Wellp, sunny day = pictures

I'm not putting my sig. on these so I can keep the EXIF intact..

I'm gonna be photoshopping the crap out of this:

Retaining EXIF data is just a matter of using "save as" vs. "save for web" in PS. It has nothing to do with adding text layers, borders, etc. to your images.
