I think I kind of O/D'd on Wakeboarding last summer by going twice a day; then I spent the winter doing trampoline, mogul skiing, showboarding and other knee-unfriendly exercises. I've developed a wierd kind of pain just below my kneecap, while doing certain movements, such as going up the stairs.

I did a bit of research and it sounds to me like I may have developed Patellar tendinitis - also known as jumper's knee.

Anybody ever experience that? Any help re treatment you could offer? Should I go see a doc? Or a shrink?

There are braces you can buy for it. It isnt even really a brace I guess, it is basically a tight fitting, thin velcro strap that wraps around your leg right below the knee cap. I wore one for basketball in high school and it helped quite a bit.

my friend got that from skateboarding, and it progressively got worse because he never took a break from it. And he is still skating on it, i remember almost seeing tears when something would bump into it.

i have the same pain. i dont remember ever getting it from wakeboarding, but it started after a hardcore week of running on the treadmill...

I didn't do anything about it, and it's starting to feel better. but i guess it's probably not as bad as yours. considering the fact that i didnt even think much about it til just now.

I used to get that every year when I was playing ball for school. Just rest it a month or so, then start doing squats and leg extensions with light weights. Start REALLY light. Like, your mom could do it with one leg light. And just increase your weight by 10 pounds every week. It worked wonders for me.

Jamesriver-rider, when I was your age I got Osgood Slaughters. That really sucks. That condition, though, is associated with growing pains. So it just disappeared on its own a couple of years later.

Come to think about it, the pain I have now does bare some ressemblance to Osgood's. Maybe it is coming back to haunt me after all these years... Maybe I'm about to start growing again!!!
