I am an ok wakeboarder. I can jump the wake, 180, grab 180 etc. I just began to try 360's. I have tried to flip before, but havn't had a great instuctor who knows how to teach me or tell me what to do. I've tried a few backrolls (lets say 10 or so) and never tried a tantrum. However I want to start really learning how to flip correctly. I've heard mixed things on which is easier. To be honest I think a backroll would be easier than a tantrum, but the logistics of a tantrum seem simpler. In other words, I think I would understand what was going on more during a tantrum than a backroll. A couple of the times I tried the backroll I have no idea of what I did in the air... just kind of flipped and fell. Sorry for the long post but interested in which flip you guys think I should concentrate on first, and which is generally easier.

As you already mentioned yourself it is different for everybody.. I think the tantrum is much easier. Both tricks are quite different from each other.

Try to get an instructional video or search this forum for other threads. There has already been a lot of discussion about this subject and you can find more than enough help.

Give both of them some attempts when you think you are ready and see which one is easier for you !

good luck !

Thanks... I think I'm leaning towards the tantrum. We'll see.

The main thing with backrolls is you have to visualise doing it because for beginers it is a very confusing trick. i suggest getting an instructional vid.Tantrums are easier to do because the flip is simple.... it just hurts more when i do it Embarassed

wviveen, I won't be able to wakeboard until at least May (I live in Mass.) and I have an instuctional - Detention by Shawn Murray, but it has about 1 minute devoted to the backroll and tantrum, and doesn't really help.

I have always had an easier time with the tantrum. Also i have never had any bad falls pulling tantrums but have on backrolls, but probably because i had no idea what i was doing the first few times i tried.
