Allright DIY'ers I just wanted to run this idea through some others brains before I go ahead and do it. I have a soft spot in the floor of my POS boat. Its about 13x20 right in front of the rear seat. I sort of checked the stringer by poking an awl through the glass and into the stringer, seems to be ok not too soft. I know that I should replace evrything the right way but this boat isn't worth investing that kind of time and $$$ so my plan is to pull the carpet back and put down 3/4 plywood on the entire back half of the boat floor. Then I was going to glass over the plywood. Its kind of two fold in that I also want to use the additional thickness to flush mount my pole base to so I can just remove the pole and not have to mess with the base. I cant really find any flaws in this plan, other than making sure I get enough glass down to prevent water from entering. Let me know if any of you have seen this or tried it. Thanks.

it worked fantastic for 3 seasons, dont put too much in there or it will RAISE the floor

410fortune, do you just spray it in? And how much did it take? I havnt seen the what my hull looks like without the floor I assume it has a pretty big cavity under it. This spray foam could be something to consider sure be a lot easier. Laughing

Yeah you just drill a few holes (in our case it was more like a large missing chunk of floor) and spray a little at a time in each cavity.
Your boat likely has runners along the fiberglass that run from side to side, you will want to locate them and fill in each one (think of rafters for a house roof)

Too much foam will bow out the floor but they make different grades these days, so you can try to use some of the stuff that does not expand so much...
