|
|
Hi all,
I am going to build sub boxes into the dashes(passenger, driver sides), which way should the sub face , down and out or in facing the dash(firewall to bow)? Heard facing in is better, but why? Thx , all responses appreciated. Gerrit _________________ When all else fails, Go Harder!! |

Anywhere the sound waves will bounce off an area of the boat (non-carpeted) enhancing the volume of bass. Make sure when you make your boxes you use partical board, not plywood. Also be sure to calk and make sure box is completely sealed. _________________ ~~DaN~~ |

| My sub is mounted, professionally, beneath the dash infront of the driver. It faces out towards the driver. Its one Alpine 12 Type R and it barely fit in there. The sound is perfect, and does not travel away at all. |

Just make sure the air pressure has a good path to the passenger area and isn't blocked by cushions. As for material use 3/4" Medium Density Fiberboard not particle board, it is very dense and is the wood of choice by most installers. If the enclosure might get wet where you are mounting it, coat with fiberglass resin before covering it. _________________ Hot Women, Phat Boats, and Sweet Rides make the world go round! |

Don't use partical board......use MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) It's not that much more, and the box will sound better and last longer. _________________ If it doesn't fit, put some lube on it!!! |

| The "lows" in music are not directional. It really does not matter "much" on your placement. |

Breezer, sorry but you are misinformed, it maters on placement because it takes a low htz sound wave 25 ft to build up maximum wave distance, that's why you can hear that cars stereo way before it gets to you but when it's right next to you it's not that loud. So if you plae subs so that the sound waves can bounce around before they travel back to you it will be louder. But you have to take into consideration that carpet and cushions won't bounce it as well as absorb it. _________________ Shane Cook
