how many watts are those speakers?
that deck is probally 200 watts and could have handled the speakers if you were on a budjet

» recommended power range: 6-60 watts RMS
» peak power handling: 180 watts

deck runs interior speakers, not really on a "budget" but attempting to get the most bang for buck possible with quality components. A sub is on the way.

ttuclint:

I hope that you lined those speaker cans with some sound deading mat or something. I had to use two layers in my cans (Raul variety) and then some pillow fill to keep the bass from rattling the crap out of my cans. I used MB Quartz speakers though and run around 100 watts RMS to them from my amp. I am sure you will enjoy the new setup.

In all honesty, what is the likely hood of you being able to hear these when riding 70' behind the boat? Just curious, I was wanting to add 2 self made tower speakers to my boat, and want to spend as little money as possible, because all the other haters at my house (sister, step bro and sister) won't put in on a set of NVS.

I am just hesitating to spend a good $600-$800 for 2-4 speakers, an amp and such when it may only make the boat really loud.

4 of these + strong amp is probably needed to really hear them well while riding. I just decided to go this route for now since I already had the amp.

Yea but by the time you buy 4 cans ($200), 4 Good speakers ($350) and the clamps and do the wiring you are at $800, and you could buy an NVS system. Please let me know how it sounds, I would love to do this project myself.

ttuclint, good choice on the deck. I threw one in an SV211 a few days ago.
I was majorly imressed with it, really awesome deck.

Also, compared to some of the Pio dcks its not a b1tch to get the front on and off... Laughing
