Ok, finally warm enough to get out in the water again. Right now im riding a Search 143, im 5'9 and 140lbs. Now i bought this board before i found this place, so i know its too big for me. Anyways i was out this weekend riding, took me about an hour to be at about the same level when i stopped boarding about 5 months ago. Im doing w2w 180's, switch and reg, some stupid grabs and what not. Anyways i ride behind a PWC with ski pole, works pretty nice and has some good wake to do low flying tricks. Im thinking about switching to a shorter board to be able to throw it around better, and learn some new tricks. I read the review on the homepage for the LF Fish, seems like its a pretty good board for an intermediate+. Im assuming im an intermediate....anyways 125 sounds REALLY short, but it says ride 10cm under. I was looking at getting another board around 135-136, so the 125 Fish should be perfect, no? Would this board get me more "pop" when riding behind the PWC? Im also ordering a specra line b/c im still riding on a shitty ski rope. Anymore suggestions welcome, also need some bindings to go w/ it, i want to keep my other board together for some of my bigger friends that ride w/ me sometimes. Thanks guys Very Happy

im 5'8, 165? haha, i ride the 133, its all preference, go demo it in 2 sizes. I never buy before i try... only way to go my friend... its a weird board to get accustomed to so u really really need to demo it before you buy it...
i love(d) mine... great board until i slid it along the concrete while ditch boardin, so i cut the molded fins off, fiberglassed it and its my slider, jet-ski board now

How do you get a shop to let you demo a board? Have to give them a credit card or something? Im in south FL, so if you know any shops that demo down here, ill give them a shot.

Well I called all the shops around here, no one demos, nor do they know anyone who does. WTF to do now?

WannabeSS, first of all i find it odd that none of the boardshops you called demo...ive never ran into that myself. The couple shops I have dealt with here in MO usually charge $20-$30 to demo a board for a couple days. The money then goes toward you purchasing a new board from that shop, kind of like store credit.

As for you questions about the LF Fish and your worries about the size of the board...the Fish was designed to be a shorter board. It makes up for the length by being wider than the average board.

My Buddy has the 05 129 model (dont think the mold change for 06) which I have had atleast 8 sets on. I am 6'2" 185lbs and i felt pretty comfortable on that board. Had I been buying one for myself I would have got the 133, and I usually ride a 141. 143 is pretty big for you as you said, If I were you I would try the 129 or shorter.

Because the design of this board is unique, the way the board rides is going to be unique and very different from your Search. The Fish has a ton of pop, it lands very soft. It is very loose feeling when your in a neutral position, and it hooks up very well when you edge in to the wake. But it has a slower transition from edge to edge because of the with of the board.

Its hard to tell how this board would do with the wake you have...none the less, it is a really fun board to ride and might suit your situation very well. Keep looking for a board shop that will allow you to demo...demo is the way to go. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for the reply, I've ridden my board a few times w/o fins, so I know what it feels like to ride loose. To tell you the truth i really like it, i can whip the board around on the surface very easily without catching an edge. I think im going to give it a shot in the 125cm size. Now i just need to know which bindings to go with Mr. Green.

RIDE THE FISH BIGGER! like all weight ranges, these are merely guidelines and not engraved in stone. so go ahead and be bold, ride the fish only 5 CM shorter than normal! if you do in fact like the way the fish feels on the water you won't be dissappointed with 4 extra tiny cm's.

Well right now im riding a board thats too big, it feels too big(maybe b/c i know it is). It just seems hard to pop off the wake, ollie with, and spin. I feel like if i get a nice short board i can throw it around a lot easier.

Where do you ride in Ft. Lauderdale? I have been down here for half a year and haven't seen many places to ride, I am trying to figure out if I should buy a boat down here after I sell my other boat back home.

I ride at markham park, theres a TON of wakeboarders that go out there, they all have beautiful boats, while im ridin on my waverunner w/ a ski pole. Markham has two canals, one runs east and west (kind of narrow, but works), and one runs north and south (a lot wider, where the boats usually go). The hurricane messed up the park bad so only the smaller canal is open, but its still plenty of room to ride. I usually get funny looks from the guys with the boats, but then they see me hitting w2w 180's and doing surface tricks, while some of them are just cruising behind the boat barely going halfway across the wake. Ill pm you my number, im gonna go out friday after i get out of my 3pm class.

And if you get a boat down here, ill def chip in for gas if you dont mind an extra rider, i've never ridden behind a wakeboard boat.

If that board shop allows demos then it would be worth the $20-$30 to make sure you like the board. Again, the only thing changed on the board from 05 to 06 was the graphics.

Ok i just read their ride free thing again, you can get your money back, so i may call and see if they can order the fish. Theres another board that caught my eye too, http://trinityboardshop.com/ProShop/product_details.cfm?item_id=1019 anyone know about this one? They keep it in stock, so its a board i would be able to demo.
