I was interested in any and all opinions of those who have rode the new Marius. More specifically the 140. I would really be thrilled to hear from riders over 6 feet in height and roughly 200 pounds!! Holla...

well, i'm not 6' (5'9") nor am i 200lbs (160lbs), but i ride the marius 140.

the marius has a sick pop, somewhat abrupt for a board w/ continuous rocker. the edge hold is real tight (w/ center fins in) with quick edge-to-edge transition. it's a little grippy, but still relatively easy to break free. the best thing about the board is its landings. the landings are super soft!

check it out when you can. it's a super fun board to ride!

here are some pics of me on a marius 140.

like joe said it's very fun to ride with ultra soft landings. One of the funnest board I road last year.

I agree with everything jumalian, says. I would add that the board is really wide so it will take a little more effort to get it to speed on your cuts. At least, that's what if felt like for me. I've ridden it 3-4 times. However, I could still pull all the same tricks with it. I just like a raceier board. I still ride the 03 Absolute Plat. Embarassed

I'm 6 foot & 200 pounds. It took me the longest time to work the pop out on the board and it felt slow compared to my old board (DUP Nelson). I took the big fins out and put in the small ones off my nelson and it feels good for grip/track. Now I have it dialed in and I'm loving it, like the other said solid pop and super soft landings. I think it is a good board for a wake to wake style of rider but can be man handled into the flats as well. I do find it difficult to ride if there is a slight chop tho.

jumalian,
Not ashamed, just embarrassed by my exo bindings still on it from the same year that used to be red but are now a pretty little pink. Laughing

Ralph, Good point. I remember that too. Get's really slippy. Although that works out good if you land a trick of balance and slide out a bit. Allows you to recover.

I'm 6' 185 and going from an '03 138 Obrien Cobe to this giant plank took some getting used to. About 3 weekends. The board really rewards a progressive cut. It felt very slow to me so I tried faster boat speed but eventualy settled back to my usual speed. My arms even got more tired than usual. Yeah I'm a puss. Pop is great. I am takin it to the flats with ease when I want. Last weekend I had to shorten my cut to the wake to just go wake to wake. Landings in the flats are a lot softer than on my old board.

I ride it finless and like it better than finned. Just takes some getting used to.

Hmmm haven't had a chance to ride the Marius yet, but can anyone compare it to the 03 + 05 Absolute or 06 Watson?

FWIW, I love the 03 Absolute shape (demoed an 06 Pure, same mold basically), but felt the 05 Absolute was too slow (wore me out!), and LOVED the speed of the 06 Watson (unreal on edge...really, really, fun board to carve on) but didn't really get the same pop that I did from the Pure...

FWIW, I'm 6'1" and well over 200 pounds.

6’2” and 205. I am not exactly great on a wakeboard, but my last ride of the 2005 season was on a friends Marius. I LOVED it. Truly took my riding to another level. Now, it could have been the perfect conditions at Powell or the fact that it was me and 6-7 ladies on a “girls run” but I have never road as well as I did that excursion.

My bindings are still on the board and I don’t know if he will be able to get them off.

In conclusion, as mentioned above, you will not see photos of me doing the tricks Joe is doing above. I also do not have experience with a ton of different boards. I usually grab what is hot on demo days, but nothing has moved me like the Marius did that day. In fact, I still ride a ’03 Premier, but that will change this year. I will get a Marius, unless the Absolute grabs me(I have never demoed any Absolute shape).
