|
|
| Hey guys....I'm new to this and was wondering if I could get an opinion. First off Hi to everyone. I'm looking at a Centurion Tornado loaded with a tower, heaters, fat sacs and 315hp merc. Also a Tige 21i that is stock for $35k. First question, is $34k for the tornado a good price or could I get it cheaper. Also would like to here what people think about these two boats...Thanks Guys |

I pretty much have the same boat as a Tornado (elite direct-drive) same hull. I have to say the wake isnt that great without ballast. I weight the crap out of mine and it throws a KILLER wake. The boat cuts chop like no other, has a great interior, etc. Well worth the money. I am sure people are going to start bashing on Centurion, but I love them. THere are lemons everywhere! Don't blame it on the company.
I took the wakeplate off, put 500 back, 600 behind engine, 250 on each side of engine, 600lb sac across the seat up front, 65 lbs of lead under each front seat, and another 65 lb lead brick under the spotters seat. Works awsome!
What is the stock tank in the tornado? _________________ Got premier? |

I have the 99 Centurion Elite d-drive. The 2000 and up changed the hull. Let me know what you decide! _________________ Got premier? |

I have a Centurion Hurricane and it throws a real nice wake with just the three stock ballast tanks full.

I would look at the hurricane instead if you plan on using it to board. A v-drive is key and I payed under that for a hurricane. That price seems high compared to other people that have bought hurricanes for on this board. Most have payed that for the v-drive. I love mine. It throws a great wake and rips through the chop. The number one option that I would get before any is the hydaulic wake plate. Let's you clean up the wake very easily and helps out tremedously with a smooth ride.
Again if you plan on using it to board I strongly encourage taking a look at the hurricane. You should be able to get it out the dooor for that same price. you might have to drop a couple of options but believe me it's well worth it in my opinion. You won't be disappointed at all. Mine has strom II, hydro wake plate, pp, and pilot 1 and I paid less than what you are going to pay for the tornado out the door. The extra storage and seating is a big bonus. Again this is all my personal opinion. You'll be able to get a much better wake out of the huricane for sure. It's worth checking out a hurricane. I think you'll be happier in the long run.

I have an '02 Avalanche and can't say enough good things about it. Solid, beautiful, unbelievable fit and finish. Cuts through chop and barge rollers like none other. The wake with factory ballast is killer. Buy a Centurion, you'll be glad you did. _________________ Go Boat! |

The Tornado has a Much better Slalom wake than the Hurricane.
$34k sounds about right depending on the options.
You could save some cash on a left over 2002 like the
one I emailed you about at my dealers. Although they may be to far
from you http://www.clarkboat.com/skicenturion/a4.htm |

Slalom wake is definately going to be better on the tornado. But if this means anything to you in the May 03 issue of waterski it rates the wakes of the best cossover boats. I would pick that up and check it out. It rates the top v-drives and d-drives for doing both, slalom and wakeboarding. It also gives some great insight on whether to go with a d-drive or a v-drive. In some cases a v-drive will give a great slalom wake and great boarding wakes Not very often but still can happen. If you can't find a copy here's one comparison they list. It compares the tornado to the hurricane and says that the tornado will have better slalom "near tournament " wakes and "intermediate boarding wakes with weight." The hurricane slalom wake is "good for the recreational slalomer, but has advanced boarder wakes. " It says the tornado is " more for top level skiing than bording, but still has decent riding wakes" and that the hurricane "is more of a boarding force, but skiers can still play."
Hope this helps out a little. I don't know if you still run a course or not, or what kind of level you ski at,but if you are looking to do more boardnig than skiing. I would go with a V-drive for sure. You can still get a good slalom pull, but the wakeboarding wakes are going to be much better in 90% of the cases. Malibu's XTI and CC 216 (both d-drives)are the exception's in my mind, their slalom wakes are just as good as their boarding wakes, both are tournament quality, but so is their price tag.

| I have to say...first off thanks for the imput guys. Its been a real help. went back down to the dealership and looked at the hurricane. Rode the tige and was not as imppressed with its handling as to the tornado. I'll see if I can find that issue.....Hopefully by the end of this week we'll come to an aggreement at the dealership. once again, thanks for the imput |

I'm curious what you thought a bout the slalom wake behind the hurricane? If you looking at a Centurion for boarding and skiing I would 100% recommend a hydraulic wake plate as the #1 option. You can put it all the way down to make a good slalom wake and bring it up when you have weight to make a sweet wakeboard wake. I definately cosider that a MUST HAVE even on any of those boats. It is a great tool for customizing the wake at different speeds and different weights.
