|
|
Question for everyone... what are you using to connect your tower speakers? I know most people have a disconnect in the lines... I'm not actually doing this for a tower, but very similar in concept.
I have a completely removeable seating bench, and in it are 2 sub's and 2 6.5" speakers... I used a cheap plug from radio shack, but it really isn't handling the gauge of the wire I ran, so I need something better that connects/disconnects relatively easily. The gauges are like a 10 gauge for the subs I believe, and 14 or so for the other two speakers. I'm ok with running two connectors if I need to, but prefer one that can handle all 8 wires, even given the different gauges. It may not hurt to have one with 10 pins, since I'm considering adding a light back there too.
any ideas? |

Amp and Neutrik (spelling???) connectors are popular for providing quick disconnects. If it's at an enclosure binding posts and banana plugs work well. _________________ Founder of Monster Tower Wakeboard Towers

| Binding Posts/Banana plugs don't work because of where the connections are in relation to everything... needs to be in-line plug style. I know I bought an amp-style plug, but seem to have lost it... I guess I'll look again today @ fry's unless anyone has suggestions on where to buy on-line for a good waterproof one. Unfortunately, it lies in the bottom of the storage compartment where I keep one of the wakeboards, so it needs to be ok with a little abuse. |

Try weatherhead. You have to make them up your self and they are water tight. I have a few pics of them at home if you need to see them. They are the same thing that are used on cars. I have them on my sub and tower speakers. _________________ "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy stuff, what a ride!" |

Hope this pic helps. I wire size is 12 gauge and I do have 10 gauge on the other side for my lights. As you can see I have one set hooked up, one unpluged and the other waiting to have the cover put on[/img] _________________ "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy stuff, what a ride!" |

Neutrik are great, and watertight. They are made for abuse. You can buy them in small quantities from www.partsexpress.com _________________ Silver Skurfer |
