I was considering mounting a subwoofer on the bulkhead area in front of the front passenger seat. The problem is that there is a large flat area (aprox 20" x20") but the fiberglass looks to be only 3/8" thick and flexes when I push on it with my hand.

I am afraid that the subwoofer will vibrate against the fiberglass. Any experts out there on this subject matter?

Otherwise I can mount it on the side of the hull in next to my rear speakers.

Thanks

well im not an expert on boat audio, but i do happen to know a thing or 2 on subs and amps. Whats the peak wattage on the sub that your looking at? if you built an enclosed sub box i doubt you would have a problem. But depending on the power you are going to be pushing out it might crack the fiberglass.

Put the sub inside a MDF box, the fiberglass wall thickness will not be an issue then.

It sounds like you are talking about mounting a free air subwoofer? meaning no enclosure? IN a open top boat this is not going to get you much bass AT ALL.

Ported or vented enclosure is the way to go in convertibles/boats.
