Been working on the boat all winter, and was runing some plumbing through the bow. I had some mounting hardware and ran a couple of screws into the floor. Didn't realize, but that part of the floor is also the outter hull. Was going to prep the areas and use Marine-tex to fill it in. Any other suggestions.

We did the same thing and just filled the holes with some kind of fibre-fill (I don't remember what it was) and then just seeled it off with marine epoxy.

But then we blew the engine, so I guess we'll never know how well it would have worked long term. It did the trick for the next month, though.

You should be able to reglass the area and get some filler gel to make it look professional.

Hey Doug,

Doesn't that make you feel, well....

Yup, prep with acetone to de-wax the area, then use thickened epoxy (you can buy a patch kit of WEST System at a chandlery (boat store) or go the marine-tex route...DO NOT use Bondo...

Wes

I'd take it to a fiberglass pro, something this size shouldn't cost more then $50 or so. Beats buying the materials, making a mess and itch the rest of the day. Pretty inexpensive mistake, bite the bullet and have it done right.

That dosn't sound good!! Nice tower, I had one of those on my old boat. Have to agree, with just finding a fiber-fill epoxy. Take your time. If you not good at this kind of thing then take it to a fiberglass shop.
