Welcome ballin4life. Have you thought of just upgrading the speakers in your current cans and maybe adding 2 more. Then kick it up with a more powerful amp. That might end up being cheaper, look better than a homemade setup, and it might sound better. Do you have a picture of your current set of speakers?
Good luck |

yea i have thought about going that route, but i have access to a very good shop for two hours a day, and all the free wood i need so i at least want to give it a shot
i was thinking if i hit it with some resin and painted it to match the boat it wouldnt look so homemade think i can pull it off any tips? if it doesnt turn out i will just add two more cans. |

| you def dont want to use MDF , as it will crumble with any little moisture !!! If you do anything , use marine ply , and glass over it . But that will be really heavy !! You are prob just gonna be better off getting some better 6 1/2" 's and adding some . You can easily build your own cans from PVC , as i and many others here have . I have about $40 in my pvc cans , and from 10' away , they look like the high $ cans you can buy , plus they sound just as good , if not better than the aluminum cans , because pvc absorbs some of the resonant sounds that metal reflects !! Good luck though |

| You get better sound of out round speakers than oval speakers. So you may want to take that into consideration when putting speakers on your tower. |

actually 6x9's sound better becuase they move more air and usually are 3-way. They also have more bass response. _________________ "Live today you could die tomorrow" |

| im making some fiberglass "Bullet" Cans. What i have done so far is i brought a brick of styrofoam. Shaped it. Covered it in plastic then glassed it. I am then going to thicken the glass coat. The only thing im using wood for is the front where the little screws are screwed into with the speaker. just to make it more durable. That is being glassed over too. its not heavy at all so far. just a thought |
