Hey rx1,
You're right in there...you'll need to get out there and experiment with rope length and exactly where and at what speed your wake "cleans up". For me, it's at about 1950 rpm (my speedo is worthless and I haven't got a PP yet) so I basically operate from an "engine sound" point of view and can get the wake to be fairly consistant - number of people on board, ballast, etc. will also affect at what speed you need to run - oh yeah, your level of experience (please don't take that offensively) plays into all this as well - if you're learning new surface stuff, go slower...
I think the bottom line is just go out and play with it a bit...

Speed is mostley is to get your rope length to have a clean wake however i found with progression ppl ride faster because it seems easier to throw inverts. _________________ They know what is what but they dono what is what they just strut. |

If Your a big guy I can tell You that it is better to ride a little faster (23-24MPH)
It's much less work at a higher speed. |

depends on a lot of things: what speed the wake is good at, boat, weight (in the boat, and of the rider), line length. skill level.
and average beginner speed is about 18-20, after that average is about 20-23. Though I often ride around 26, 'cause the wake on my boat doesn't get good till then. _________________ Some female cows have horns, but you wouldn't really know anything about that now would you? |

| It doesnt matter how fast I want to go, anyone that has driven my boat goes too fast and I fall before the speedo is working (on plane) Someday they'll get it . |
