Not sure if this was the right place to put this but oh well...
I need some fin help. I'm looking to drill new fins holes. I want to take my board and turn it from 1 fin to 3 fins. I don't like the feel of the one big fin thats on my board...but if I go any smaller the feeling is even worse. I don't have the money to buy a new board, which is the reason for me doing this. I remember coming across a guide about a year or so ago, on how to drill new holes, but I was unable to find it again. I am planning on drilling my 2004 Hyperlite Juvi 131. Can anybody help me?
Thanks.

I found some cheap hyperlite A-Wings at a sports store where near I live.
My plan was to have 2 semi-shorter fins on the side (like .5'' -.7'') and something larger in the center (like 1'') How do you think this will effect my hold compared to my one 3.2'' center fin? If I'm looking for a looser feel than the 3.2'' center, should I go with just two .7'' fins on either side? Thanks.
And if anybody happens to know of a guide online, please drop me the URL.

Wolf, how about having the 1.1" A-wings on the outside and maybe a 0.7" for the centre fin if you want a little more stability, but still kinda loose when the centre fin is gone. _________________

Wolf,
So we play around with fins quite a bit since we design them. We have tried this, not on a Juvi 131, but a board some what similar. It was kind of interesting. The board would cut quite a bit harder, but when it got to the wake it wouldn't release right. It was almost like being on a water ski. The board would just cut through the wake. You can give it a shot. You will just have an extra set of holes in your board. The cores of wakeboards are made out of a closed cell foam (unless it is a balsa core). So you can drill holes through your board and not have to worry about resealing it. _________________ Skiing made me board,

Awsome, thanks.
I wouldn't know what is appropraite for non sealing, but it does say Biolite on the bottom of the board...and it is a 2004.
EDIT: I did a little research and all I could find was that it has a Biolite core. Is that the right kind for being able to leave it open?
Hmm...no realese, thats odd. I thought it would release easier than with the one 3.2''. Weird. Well, I guess I might as well try it since it looks like I might just be able to drill and not have to seal, and if it doesn't work, I could just put the single fin back on...
And if nothing works, it might have a bigger selling point if I try to sell it on ebay to get a new one. Hmm. Thanks for the advice.
Also, any tips on fin positioning would be great...the center fin is 2-3'' off the board, so any reccomendations of where to brill for the new fins would be great, thanks.

Hmm...
Been searching for a while, and been unable to find a board within my cheapskate price range...
Not releasing right. Sounds kinda odd. The bottom of it is the same basic style all the older (2002ish and older) boards have, and alot of them have multiple fins...
Would placing the holes in the right spot fix it? |

I'm thinking about attempting to match the fin setup on the Hyperlite Motive. It's the only 3 finned board with a rocker of 2.3'', and it's got a 1.7'' as the center and .4'' on the sides. I happen to have the same 1.7'' fin they come with , and I'm sure I can get ahold of cheap .7'' (The .4'' that are on the Motive are molded in, so I'd have to go a hair bigger since .7'' was the smallest fin I could find.)
Could anybody post a picture of the end of one of their Motive boards?
I need to know where to drill!
Thanks.
EDIT: Also, since I'm taking one of the fins that the board came with, and adding extra fins next to it, I shouldn't have any problems with release or anything else, because all I'm doing as giving the board a grippier, and faster feel. So if I do put the fins on, there should be no problems right?
EDIT AGAIN: Does anybody know how big the Hyperlite Shank fin is? It looks small, and I'm trying my best to match the Motive, which has .4'' and the smallest I have seen is .7'', so it would be cool if the Shank is shorter.
