it is.
well, you're obviously on pc, so....
adobe premiere pro 1.5 full version = $699.99 (much lower w/ student discount)
mac final cut = free, but you have to buy a mac w/ final cut preinstalled, $1500.00+

what exactly do you need from a program for it to cut it? _________________ my demo reel

mac's don't come preinstalled with final cut pro (the real, full version). You can get the less powerful version (final cut express) pre-installed on a new mac for a couple hundred dollars.
If you're on a pc, then you can't get final cut. Adobe works pretty good and will probably be able to do a lot more than you know how to. If you want to spend a whole lot more, I really enjoyed editing on an AVID Xpress Pro system. |

Can you explain in more detail why the "whole windows crap just aint cuttin it" - What are you currently using? Window Movie Maker? What would you like to do?
As Scott A and jumalian pointed out.. Picking a platform needs to be your first choice because that will dictate which software you can use. i.e. Final Cut is only available for the Mac, while Adobe Premiere (2.0 just came out today) is only available for the PC, and AVID Express is available for BOTH...
Special Effects programs like Motion are only on the MAC, while After Effects is available for both...
Search the posts for my in-depth listing of student available software (with pricing). I even have some info on FREE options like Avid Free DV, windows movie maker, etc..

i heard there was a way to get final cut to work through some kind of emulator type software on pc. probably wouldn't be too stable though.
im looking forward to using premier 2.0, hopefully i can get highspeed internet again soon to try it out. |
