So, CWB basically recycles it's board designs and relabels them, right? I'm not talking about materials - just about shapes.

From what I gather, the 06 Flame = 04 Absolute, is this correct?

Did they relabel the 05 Absolute for 06 as something?

And the 06 Pure = 06 Sapphire, right?

I'll probably demo a Flame (or Pure) this weekend - demoed an 05 Absolute last weekend and liked it, but didn't love it.

I think you may be right when it comes to womans boards. I think they take an older mens board shape and put new graphics on it and walla womans board. Might be way off on this.

youre right all of there beginner boards are old absolute shapes. the 05 absolute is pretty much exactly the same as the 06. there may be som minor changes but non that will make a significant difference in the boards ride. if oyu didnt love the absolute try and ride a transcend or marius.

Yeah pretty much industry standard in that regard, they all do it. Molds are expensive & since there is nothing wrong with the shapes they get some extra use out of 'em. 06 Pure = 06 Sapphire = 03 Absolute. The Tattoo is also the old Prodigy shape with a removable center fin.

Oh yeah, not saying there's anything wrong with it at all - just trying to figure out how certain boards will ride compared to each other and make a good decision. For example, the local place doesn't have a Sapphire in stock, so my gf is going to demo the Pure. Then, if she likes it, she can get the girly version. Though she did love the 06 LF Cadence she tried out this weekend!

As for me, my buddy LOVED the 05 Absolute, so I was seeing if any of the 06 boards were utilizing the same shape, since he's most likely going to get a package with the new Torqs.

cloud, definitely try both the Flame and Pure if possible - both great iterations of the Absolute.

Also, you may want to check out the Factor (Tattoo).

My wife loved the Sapphire. Seemed to be a great balance of forgiving and control. She also loved the Torq's.

FWIW: First time ever that I didn't hear a single complaint.

Yeah, my gf was really stoked about trying the Torqs, but the local shop was sold out, so she demoed the much more expensive Sphynx instead. It will be very interesting to see how she likes the Torqs this weekend!

I look forward to the Flame and Pure. Looking for something with similar pop to the 05 Absolute, but a tad faster. I think the Absolute was a little thin and I'm a little heavy, but it felt slower than I expected.
