My boat has both a fuel filter and a water separating fuel filter. The fuel filter is definitely fine but I would change the water separating fuel filter just in case. If it is running good you could probably get away without changing it or by just dumping it out (if it's like mine), but it is pretty cheap and I'd just change it in your situation.

| Most fuel filters are also water seperators. If you have a lot of water in the fuel, you may want to replace it. It can only seperate so much water before it fills up. You will notice it is upside down. This allow water to sit at the bottom of the filter since water is heavier that gas. Hence it gets seperated.

These pictures are from my webpage, which also tells you how to change them. The first two pictures are of just the fuel filter, this is definitely not affected and on my boat is located right at the carb as seen in the picture. The second two pictures are of the water separating fuel filter. As Breezer said, the water collects in the bottom, that's why I said if you dumped it out you'd probably be ok. I'd change it though, I like new stuff!
