Yea it was painted when I got it. They guy that I bought it from actually painted it himself. I love the new paint job and stickers on it. I think it makes it stand out big time. When ppl see it, I ask them what year they think it is and they say like a 98 or so and I just laugh. They don't believe that its an 87'. I think the new stripe colors would look great on your boat. Its amazing how you can do just little things to the paint jobs on these boat and make them look 10 years newer that what they actually are. These older boats are really solid boats too. I love em.

Bigkitch and Haugy, bot of your boats are very nice looking boats. I think these boats look awesome sittin on the water, especially with towers on em. Hey Haugy, what kind of tower is that on your boat? I really like the low profile look of it. Looks smooth on the Mariah.

I think it will look pretty sweet. The only thing I could think of is maybe tower speakers, but I don't know if you're into that kind of stuff or not. Its all about what you want and like. Thats your boat and nobody elses so just go with what you like. Its looking good so far so just keep doin what your doin.

Haugy, what kind of tower is that on your Mariah? I think it looks good being low profile and all. Looks smooth with the lines of the boat.

well i ordered the rub rail directyly from supra in texas , jsut through a canadian dealer in muskoka, ONT

but..........the main reason for the rub-rail is the hull is now royaly screwed
in the rear driver side...the hull is very flexible where it meets the deck, so i have to see whats going on....im assuming its rotten cause thats where the leak was comin from and the pressure of the water jsut made it go

and i also had to go half this season with no reverse, and i pulled my tranny to find the reverse is shot...so now its off to be rebuilt....darn old boats

bigkitch, Can't you fix the deck/hull issue? I'd clamp it and glass it together. Not as if you'll ever need to pull the deck from the hull! Very Happy

oh for sure its totally fixable...i jsut havent had a chance to find the major casue lol

im either gonna glass it, which will work...
dead bolt it...which will work....

or glass it and dead bolt it...lol....im sure other spots on the deck/hull
the guy at the marina told me to find out how bad it is and if there is still good solid fiberglass left on the ull and deck in the area, to bolt it, and then fibgerglass it in...

ill jsut have to see how bad it is before i fix it

brit rider....have you done this before?

Call Skier's Choice (aka Supra and Moomba) and ask if they have a rubrail for it. I ordered one for my 88 TS6m back in like 98 from them

How's the wake on these older Comps? I've had experience behind Sunsports and Launches but not the Comps.

The wake is ok. It's soft, but it's meant to be a slalom/barefoot boat. I've gotten an "ok" wake by adjusting the wake plate. But when I TRY back rolls and such, I use my buddies Nautique, or a Mastercraft. Much firmer.

karkid, won't be anything like the Sunsport (which the Launch hull is derived from). Like Critter said, it's not set up for that. It's good, but for inverts, try something else.

they arent built for wakeboarding. i have a tower on my boat, but, i use the boat more for slalom, adjusting the wakeplate will give you a bit of height, but nothing comparable to other boats. probably one of the smallest wakes

i think its safe to say the guy was an auto mechanic who had the boat before me lol

Bigkitch, didn't I see somewhere that you had redone your carpeting? If so, how difficult was it, and what'd it cost ya?

critterCQB, yeah bud...look back on page 1. there are some pics with the carpet torn up and then with the new carpet down.

ill see if i can dig up the bills for it, but it was straight forwad. just if your going to do it, replace any rotten floorboards and/or seat frames. we had to rebuild the base frame for the motor cover, passenger seat, and replace some of the floorbards at the back and up by the pylon.

The carpet we used was a boat style carpet we got from home depot, but I would recommend getting a proper style marine carpet that is more plush. My buddy's LTD Comp, he did that and its super nice to walk on man...lol but dont worry, its pretty straight forward. The carpet we bought was cheap, but it works quite well! When you are on a budget you do what you gotta do.

Yeah, for some reason all i can see is Haugy's Mariah. Not sure why. So did you have it professionally done? Or did you lay the new stuff yourself?

haha golden.

well it took me and my dad some time, but we wanted to make sure we did it right. getting the old carpet out took a matter of minutes, but we took a few days to clean and smooth the floor out and prep it so the new glue would have somthin to bite into.

building the base frames was straight forward, jsut use some plywood and seal it. its definatly a job that any average joe can tackle...are you gonna do yours?
