Common problem don't worry you will figure it out.

When you release off the wake think about advancing the shoulders over the handle. This is now your axis for off axis spins.

Think about pushing the handle down and under your butt more than anything off the wake. This will naturally get your hips up and out the back like you want but now the handle is in nice and close.

Throw it like a scarecrow but keep your head up.. that will keep you from going inverted

a combination of all tips mentioned ought to work. an o/a spin has a lot more line tension due to the increased edge and 'throw' off the wake. keep chest up, pop hard off wake, keep handle LOW and CLOSE, and get ready to give a good hard pull to initiate the spin. good luck, its a gnar trick.

i actually started landing this trick with a grab first, grabbing slob or melan would make me wait before I started the spin (i used to have a terrible habit of getting too anxious and throwing stuff too soon). id say the key is to start about 20 feet outside the wake, come in with a pretty flat edge - at the trough of the wake edge a tad harder for the vert pop.. from there just make sure to maximize your pop before going for the handle pass, if you do this part right, you won't struggle with the line tension nearly as much.

another tip - you don't HAVE to go way off axis to do an off 5... you can go just slightly off axis and still not have to worry about getting pulled over like on a flat spin.. not to mention i think it looks better than doing 'handle-pass crows' Wink

Thanks for all the help guys. Im going to try and see if i can't land some this weekend. Last weekend i tried a different approach. I tried to do wrapped off axis 540. I came really close to landing them. It feels like i am going off axis and not just doing a crow anymore. I hope i land something off axis this weekend. Later

off axis is cooler looking, just try for fun, to not pass the handle and spin your 540, it'll look really nice
