I have been wakeboarding for one summer now. I can do the basics like, go over both wakes...even get a little pop. I can get up switch for like 2 seconds and switch back to normal.

What would be the next best thing to try?

I'm probably not the best person to respond, as I'm basically where you are at in terms of skill. I've started with a few simple grabs and a 180 here or there on my wake jumps. Not sure if you meant you're clearing the wakes both TS and HS (going both ways across the wake), but I've been told those two jumps are the basics. I've been focusing on riding and doing jumps switch - really hard and lame to watch at first, but I've already noticed a big difference when trying to land those 180 wake jumps.

Good question though, I'm interested to see how more experience people respond.

Try mastering surface 180s, butterslides, and wake to wake jumps.

Try to stay switch longer and work on your jumps. And like Jummy said, master the butterslides and surface 180's.

Do some butta slides on the lip of the wake this will help with board control and get you to ride the board in a well balanced position....

ride reg and switch equally, learn to jump hs, ts, reg, switch. then learn 180s.
keep everything smooth, get a good solid foundation, and above all else, have fun!

I agree with want2ride, but would say that you should not be trying any BS (backside) 180's for quite awhile. You should be mastering you toeside and heelside w2w, and then ts and hs switch w2w. And then all four 180's. If you can do all that, you will be more well rounded then 90% of the people on here and it is not that hard with a little practice and concentration.

Lot of good stuff already posted for you - - learn good progressive edging, your 180's, a few grabs, switch riding - - - If you spend the time to get good at the basics the rest will come easy. Invest in Detention Volume 1 and 2 and Higher Learning Vol 1 and 2 - - good stuff. If you can afford it, check out a wakeboard camp. Lot of fun..

Also, don't neglect your Toeside Edge. A lot of riders don't spend the time learning ts jumps - they pretty much limit themselves by doing so.

Peace and Good Luck this summer

yeah, ts is so important. I ride with guys who cant do stuff from ts, and they're just now figuring out that it's worth investing they're time in leanring it...
