I would like to keep only 1 battery on the boat. I'm starting from scratch what do you think 4 speakers (6.5) on inside of boat with 2 (6.5) on tower with a sub behind driver kickplate on my 1988SN or just 2-(6.5) on my interior with 2-6.5 on tower with the sub. My stereo does have 2 sets of rca out for 2 amps if needed.
was thinking of using the polk momo mc650 and some type of bazooka sub what type amp do you recomend do i need 1 amp or 2amp do i need a crossover of some type.
1. I would highly suggest getting a second stereo battery and/or having the alternator rebuilt for higher amps. The stocker is only 35a and will not be able to keep up with even a single amplifier. Hell it can barely keep up with the stock electronics all running at the same time.
I'm in the same boat.....literally. I really wish there was an easier way, but unfortunately if you don't upgrade the charging system you will likely become very aquainted with the local tow service.
2. I would run 4 speakers and a sub in the boat. I doubt the rear seat would be able to hear the front speakers or vice versa once under way. You can use a 4ch amp running the 4 spkrs off the front and bridge the two rear channels to run the sub.
3. IMO, I wouldn't waste my time or $$ w/6.5 tower speakers on a SN2001 if you are trying to listen while boarding. You can get by with them on newer/quieter boats but you won't be able to hear them behind the SN2001....at least not with any clarity. 4 6x9s or a pro audio (NVS/defcon) setup would be the best bet.
Hopefully I'll get a system in mine, but for the reasons above it will have to wait until I can do it right. Good luck and be sure to check out the2001.com (and post some pics ).
