need advice buying used boat malibu wakesetter lsv or mb b52

trying to decide on what boat to buy its between a 2000 malibu wakesetter lsv at $28900 with 197 hours on it with a 375 hammerhead,wedge ,hot shower.tower speakers and or a 2003 mb b52 at $34500 with about 190 hrs about 2500 ballast stereo sytem cruise control 325 engine and other littel stuff. need info. on wake and wich boat would be a better buy. resale value and so forth its my first boat so any info would be very helpful thanks

Just remember with an inboard you dont have steering in reverse.

id go with the mb just beacuse imo i think they have better styling and resale value, plus 2500lbs of ballast! whichever you get im sure you will have funand enjoy it

malibu, better wake, more stylish, even though 2500 lbs, the malibu with wedge can do around that, most likely better servicing too depending on your area

pilot_ryder, 2500 lbs is not too big of a deal, wedge=1000+ballast=close to 2250, look at the epic if you really want to use a qutoation mark

Has malibu actually calculated the down force of the wedge? If not I've seen that 1000k statment throw all around this site but I though it just helped put a lip on the wake. It is more compatible with the shaping theory because the wakesetters also are known to love weight in the nose. Anyhow something to bring to attenchion, the wakesetter it 6 years old with 200 hours on it. Sounds like it mite have sat up for a while you may want to ask. Last but not least, test drive both because I really don't think you can go wrong and they may be some little things you like better about one of them.

SouthWaker, I was wondering the same thing. Who actually tested for the numbers that everyone's using?

I'd say the MB just because the styling IMO is better. The wakes I want to say should be about equal, depending on how you weight them.

You can got there and look at wake pics from both boats. They're not great b ut they're better than nothing. From those pics I like the MB's wake wayyyyyyy more. But that's IMO, whatever you like.

Are you close to the dealer with the malibu? I had a friend looking at that boat. He was working with the dealer over email and he seemed friendly enough, but then my buddy started asking detailed questions about it, the dealer stopped returning email. All I'm saying is you probably want to stop by and personally check it out. I have no opinion either way about MB or Malibu, just trying to watch out for you.

take a look at like a used setter like on 05, with the x illusions, they push out a fantastic wake

yes the wedge really only makes the wake a little steeper i have ridden in both boats out of those two i would get the mb they are excellent boats. you should look at a santes and mbs are the best boats imo.
