Hey guys, I just got my first wakeboard for Christmas. Its an Obrian Ambush 143. Now I know that these board binding combos are not the best, but I've understood that this is a decent beginner board in terms of price and such. About the bindings, are they really that bad? They're kind of stiff, but I've heard that soaking them in water will help loosen them up, is this true?If it is really neccessary to diffent bindings can you point me in the direction of some relatively inexpensive ones that are good? The boat that I will be getting up behind is a 21' Searay with a 350 V8 in it. The ski hook up is approximately 12-16 inches off the surface of the water. This boat does fine pulling skiers and slalom skiers right up. I've been reading about pylons, is there any reason I would need one? And about the fins, I searched for this but couldn't find an answer, which way are they suppose to face? The only instructions the board came with was the general do not do this list, and said nothing about which way the fins needed to be put on. Thanks in advance for listening to my noobish questions...... I can't wait for summer to get here so I can try this out!!!!

put the fat end of the fin facing out on both sides.

when you are working on jumps it helps to have a pylon/tower because it will give you more air.

all bindings are stiff when you first get them but soaking them in warm water and working them with your hands will loosen them up. I like to just use them till they get looser.

have fun in the summer Very Happy

Ok
Myth: Tower/pylon gives you more air
Fact: Tower/Pylon gives you more hangtime
Pylons and towers definitely help with learning and progression
To get your bindings fitting well, wear them in a hottub or bathtub, then leave your feet in them for 15 min, then at night stick beer cans in them

When you are just learning, remember to treat heelside and toeside equally, as well as regular and switch. Carve around all ways possible and learn all four wake jumps, then progress to toeside 180s, followed by heelside 180s, halfcabs (switch heelside 180) and switch toeside 180s

spend a few of your cold days left watching Higher Education, Detention, or The Book. All are excellent instructionals and will help you out tremendously before you hit the water so you're not wasting a bunch or time, energy and gas.
