Hey. New to the forum but have been wakeboarding for 3 seasons. My dad finally decided to upgrade our boat. We trade our 16 Lund for a 2004 Bayliner 205 BR. Im curious to know what the boat will be like for wakeboarding. How good will the wake be, how big... And do you guys have any suggestions for a tower for this boat, don't wanna spend too much money.
And I got one more question. Looking at pictures of wakeboarding boats, it looks as if the bottom is almost flat with a little round in the bottom. The Bayliner has a V with a 20 degree deadrise. I would have thought the wakeboard boats would have had a pretty significant V in the hull. Why is this and how does the V or no V affect the wake?
Does anyone have pictures of the wake behind a Bayliner similar to mine?
Thanks

glemay, Great boat, nice buy
The 205 is by no means a 'Wakeboard' boat, its a cruiser/family boat, but will do the job just fine... the deep V helps chomp through waves and provider a much smoother ride than your average Wakeboard/Ski boat.
The wake will be fine for learning a few tricks, try trimming her up a little and the wake will harden up... if you really want to maximise the wake it could be an idea to throw a few fat sacs (ballast to sink the hull a little deeper).
As for towers... check out MonsterTower.com for the best bang for your buck.. you won't find a nicer tower for the money, I have personally installed this tower on a boat like yours and I know it will work great! _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |
