okay, this is my friend who never can seem to land one of these. He's getting really close, but just can't seem to bring one down for the landing.
Any suggestions?

Yeah that looks like a raley/krypt gone wrong, tell him to dial in his raleys and be able to extend them way up into the sky before he tries it with a backside shifty. That pic looks like he is pulling too hard towards his rear hip so he is coming down to krypt, but coming up short. Those falls suck a$$, better him than you!!!

THIS is raley extension..

there is no way he is gonna get even close to landing that. he doesn't even have enough air to do a raley. also the trick is not done correctly so that would only count as a weird raley if he could land it. can he even land a raley yet??? i would definitely work on those before going for the 911

well, whatever it is, he's gotten really close to landing it. I think he basically has too much weight on the back foot or something, which throws him into that extension. He can pull them down just fine, and he seems to have enough air. maybe I'll post the video on wakepics.com

haha no need to state it Brent, your 'not enough air to do a raley' kinda omitted that picture Smile

Nathan- the pic looks fine, he needs to release harder, extend higher, and pull it in cleaner so the board doesn't shift to krypt and so he doesn't come up short. The thing about raleys is you can keep charging them harder and harder, thats why I posted that pic of my buddy almost splitting his spine.

A 911 is a huge extended raley with a backside shifty, the rider shifts the board at the peak, and drops his rear hand and just kinda hangs upside down (toes and eyes to the sky is a good way to say it), then pulls it around and back down. It looks very very crazy, I have only seen them in vids. You can best believe not too many people can do tricks that Parks invented, so don't worry about it.

he needs to look over his rear shoulder, if you have higher education watch it, zane gives a really good explanation of it.

he has brought them down both regular and krypt.

no it is definitely NOT a new trick..it is just a screwed up version of an old trick.....air raley. your friend barely has enough extension to be considered a raley. just out of curiosity, does your friend even clear the wake on that trick?

that thing is what you can call a "not spined S-bend"... sounds pretty lame... tell him to land his raley big and clean then go for the hoochie... you have to put more pressure on your FRONT foot to attemp a 911... he would have to go way much higher than this to land one... an S-bend might even be easier than a 911...

yeah brent, he clears the wake and goes a good ways out into the flats.

so, what y'all are saying is, to not even bother trying these, because despite the fact they look damn cool, they aren't as cool as the air raley. WTF?

Anyways, okay. thanks for your input, I'll show him this thread next time I see him...

No, a 911 is a killer tick, I think they are sayn' don't think you will be able to land one any time soon cuz some pro's can't even do them good.

Work up to it with the big clean Raley, Hoochie and OHH.

They don't call it a 911 for nuthn' G.

What everyone is tryin to say is that what your friend is doing is stargazing a raley, he can do them all he wants if you think they look cool but he'll never land them because, it's the improper way that he does a trick (raley0 that cause him to stargaze. Yea you can land a stargazed raley but not until you leanr to land a normal raley. Tell him to do the same thing he's doing but put more weight on his front foot when he leaves the wake and that will keep the board level and then he can pull down a raley. Then after he learns that if he wants to go back to stargazing it them he'll be able to land it Krypt.

it also has a lot to do with arm position coming into the wake, it is extremely important to keep your arms bent while cutting into the wake. it is natural with a hard raley edge to lazily let your arms out but if you think of holding them in and do so and look at the tower, he will stick it

Yeah he has zero pop coming off the wake, his body never extends past shoulder level. He tries to lay out but there is no time to pull it back in. There is a pretty hefty gap between that attempt and a 911, thats why people were saying wtf. Tell him to take a couple of huge wake jumps into the flats with a 'standing tall' cut and a much more powerful release, then use that same hard cut to throw the raley. He can do it if he has the balls to lay out like that, it will just take a harder more powerful release to really boot him up there.

This would be a technically correct 911.

very nice tc - I tried a 911 and a 313 for giggles before spring break IE before I broke my wrist Smile. I did the parks' 911, I just forgot to come back down - flat on my back from like 15 ft up Laughing .

it looks pretty good tho bro, I cant do it Mr. Green

I just got where I can do my off axis 3's again - couldnt do them for awhile becaue of a broke wrist. Of course now its not healed. Still got the cast on with a trash bag on it, but it doesnt hurt as bad to pull on it Mr. Green
