|
|
I have recently bought an 87 2001 Nautique and am in the process of getting some audio gear sorted.
I am a bit new to installing anything boats so anyone got any ideas on where / how to install the speakers inside the boat? I can get the boxes made no problems but mouning them has me stuck.
Was thinking of putting in 4 6x9's. Dont feel the need to go any bigger at the moment. |

You said "87 2001 Nautique" is it a 2001 or a 1987?
Were you thinking of tower speakers, or speakers mounted in the boat?
If you're thinking of ones inside the boat, I'd suggest installing them nearby or beside you, such as storage compartments, or the side shelf that runs along the boat. Our boat has them under the dash and I don't know whose dumb idea that was, but it's impossible to hear them _________________

Its ok Qnev, but only b/c you weren't even born when these boats were built.
md, nice ride. Look at the user boats on www.correctcraftfan.com, www.planetnautique.com and www.the2001.com for location possibilities. You can also scan this thread for ideas. The most popular place for the front speakers seems to be mounting 5.25's or 6.5's right behind the throttle control and the opposite panel on the port side. For the rear I've seen several placements.....mounted in boxes against the gunwales(sp?), mounted in boxes under the rear seat cushions, mounted in the side (similar to front above),etc depending on interior options and model year. |

Brit Rider, Thanks. I wish I could take some credit but it was that way when I bought it. In fact those are the pictures from when I bought it. The carpet is now clean.
I wish I could tell you how it sounded but this summer I was to interested in riding to worry about getting a head unit. I will put one in it soon. |

Cheers for the replies guy's.
I guess I was thinking about boxes similar to jon4pres. Anyone know how to mount something like these?
I will try and find a photo of my boat interior to post up. |

md, Best way to mount a speaker box i can think of if using a mateiral like plexus or epoxy resin... Means you can remove them with some elbow grease in the future but they will be firmly in place.
Another very clean 2001! I love those boats! _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

Heres how we did it on our 89 2001. Two speakers on the dash and a sub under the bow. |
